The op's question may, or may not have been satisfactorily answered but this has turned into quite an educational thread. Why stop now?cyclonebri1 wrote: »Jueeeeees, we have just discovered perpetual motion, please let go avor??.

If you're bored with it there's always this.
There is plenty more we could explore.

Why be sarcastic and unpleasant. I wasn’t sarcastic or unpleasant to you.
Actually you said:
"There was a lot of conflicting advice and comments and the question had not been answered conclusively. "
That wound me up as you dismiss earlier posts, and effectively say "Earlier posts are confused and not helpful, so I will post the truth".
And when you said: "If you are still confused with all the conflicting advice, "
Again, you dismiss other posts, and set yourself up as the expert. As far as I recall, you agreed that leaving the heating off was more cost effective.
I didn’t claim that my answer was definitive, It was merely an attempt to provide a simple example to aid the OP.
If you don’t like my posts, you are not compelled to read them.
I agreed that leaving the heating off was more cost effective, but sometimes you might have to leave it on some or all of the time, for the sake of comfort.
Errr, is the OP happy with the answers he got? Hello, OP, are you there? Oh dear, they've found better things to do .... can't say I blame them.

Some said leave it on, others said leave it off. What is that if not conflicting advice?
There was no conclusive answer. There still isn't. People will still choose whose opinion they accept and whose they reject. I think I am correct. You agree with me but others are probably equally convinced that their opposite view is correct. That’s life.
The bit I have highlighted is just your interpretation of me posting my views. You could say the same about anyone who posted comments. Not everyone agrees with everyone else. That is the nature of debate and discussion.
Your post and my reply might drive a few others wild, but hopefully they have now learned that they don’t have to open a thread and read it if they don’t want to.

But the OP specifically asked for the cheapest option, not the comfort option.
I sometimes leave my heating on low. I know it costs me more but, if I am not sure when I might get home, I like to know that the house isn't freezing when I do get back.
I suspect the OP has run for the hills after what he started. :rotfl:
I hope he never ventures into DT. Blood is regularly spilled there.0 -

I am simply repeating what I said, but perhaps you are being too literal. Cheapest yes, but heating too. Who knows what matters. Perhaps they don't mind if their teeth chatter when they enter the house, perhaps they want the cheapest way to get a comfortable home. You can't assume you know.
Personally I like a cool house, 18C suits me.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

But what made you think that dismissing other posts and posting your opinion would settle it? The truth is you can only say "my opinion is ...".Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
I learned a lot reading this thread.
I have a question or two...
1) Am I saving money by not heating my domestic water supply? I have a dishwasher, washing machine and electric shower.
2) What temperature should I set my boiler to in order not to waste gas and money?I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
