Re- living in caravan

You could also look at chalets. They are about the same size as a caravan but can be a bit more flexible re changing the layout and slightly more solidly built (although they need to be checked out carefully, obviously).0

But are these holiday caravans/lodges or residential ones? Holiday ones will be considerably cheaper than residential. But practically and legally you cannot live on a holiday site.
I don't know what prices are like in general in Blackpool, likely I guess far cheaper than round here in the SE and that will of course be reflected in the price. But I'd still be amazed if you could get a residential park home for around the £10K mark
I just did a rightmove search and there are 2 residential park homes listed in the Blackpool area at around the £40K mark, so yes, much cheaper than round here. BUT, there are also loads of 2 bed flats/houses for around the £40K mark too. Bearing in mind that you can't get a mortgage for a static, have to pay (usually quite expensive) site fees for a static, that you will have considerably less space and will have to pay high utility charges and will have an asset which will depreciate rapidly with a static, why choose a static over a bricks and mortar property? If you've got enough cash to buy a park home, I'd suggest you buy a small bricks and mortar property outright instead, and then look at getting a holiday static for weekends/holidays if you really want the caravan experience.
I'm not anti statics in general, as I said before, we have one as a holiday home, and we really enjoy it. But from a financial point of view they're not really sensible, and they are very, very small, cold and expensive to heat and I really wouldn't want to live in one full time. Another thing to bear in mind is that they are very noisy, you'd have to make sure your children tiptoed around and never shouted, giggled or argued unless you want angry neighbours banging on your door. People on holiday sites will be quite tolerant of child noise, but on a residential site I would imagine it will become a big issue very quickly (probably why so many don't accept children).
I appreciate that lots of the interiors of caravans look lush, and its easy to think that you'd like to live there, but IMO its a crazy idea for a family with children.0 -

.....You could always buy a bit of green belt land & get a ground crew in over the bank holiday weekend. It would take ages to move you on....I know, bad taste. Sorry
The prices above just illustrate that it is no cheaper than buying a house in the area you have chosen. £140pcm ground rent could be paying a £30k mortgage. Add the cost of buying a van on top of that and you could buy a 3 bed house in Blackpool (as property there is so cheap). They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
And the house would still be standing in 25 years time, and retain much of its original value - whereas a caravan would be well on its way to being recycled into coke cans and be worth about as much as a can of coke in value!0
