No, not really. A sensible seller includes all the relevant information in the listing at the time of writing it.
Forcing buyers to do the work means that you lose out on bids at the crucial end of the auction (when most people will see it, given the very crowded nature of the category, so most of the first twenty pages will be items ending within the hour) and enough other people put them on that you will lose buyers. If your buyer sees a complete listing, with measurements, good photos, clear text and so on, they can bid in the final seconds knowing what they are getting. If they see something in the last five minutes, they won't have time to contact the seller. In all likelihood, they won't bother emailing into the ether and losing out. They will either bid - and then be disappointed and badger the seller to take a return - or not bid.
Either way it's the seller's ultimate loss. Buyers have plenty to choose from, so competitive sellers list as if they don't want buyers to have to contact them.
It is up to the seller to get the most out of their listings. The more you put in, the more you get out."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
