I bough my tablet without a sim card slot thinking if I needed one I would pick up a mifi, some android apps eat data for breakfast lunch and dinner. I have not needed it so far. I took it on holiday to Canada and we got wifi wherever we needed it, and in the UK if you sign up at O2 they provide free wifi in a lot of their shops.
Free wifi is becoming more the norm in a lot of fast food restaurants too. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Though my heart wanted to go for Samsung, my head was telling me to go for the cheapest of the two. Simply because a few years back I paid the same price for my netbook NC10 than I would have paid for the Samsung tablet today. And my netbook has a proper operating system which allows me to do a lot more things. However, the upcoming Microsoft Surface tablet seems to want to breach the gap between tablet and PC, but that will come at a price, and I am not sure whether a tablet will be able to replace a fully featured computer.
And also, as it is my first tablet, I will have to see whether I use it enough to warrant buying a top of the range one.0 -

I have bought the Lenovo ideapad K1, 10.1 64GB. I think I would have prefer 8.9", but they seem to be more expensive than the 7" or 10.1" for some reason.
The Lenovo is fine, but I had a few problems with it.
When I started it, I did update the OS straight away from the 3.1 version to the 3.2.1 version, but then I did notice that some applications weren't working. So I did a factory reset and it did cure the problem, but it shows that the OS is back to version 3.1, but I don't know if the OS has really gone back to that version, as when I want to update the OS again, it says up to date. But it did cure most of the problem.
There are some updates available from the lenovo shop but there is a problem parsing some packages, others are installing without problems, so maybe the problem is more with the package to be downloaded than the application.
And of course, there is no proper user manual, so I have to go blind into all this, it's pretty easy but I wish there was a manual, it would make things a lot easier than trying to get bits and pieces from You tube or forums.0 -
Lenovo thinkpad tablet would be my choice

3g built in too, not bad for £250
ICS out for it too.0 -
Hi there not been on here for a while but am looking to buy one of the above and am not sure which is the best and most compatible with my Samsung Galaxy S2 mobile that I have? I dont want to have to pay or have to download all my apps that I have on my mobile again onto one of the above.
My other half has in fact got the Ipad but he also has an Iphone and so it is more compatible for him, but not sure after reading and seeing the reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet I am certainly veering towards that instead of Ipad!
I would use mine for the web, Facebook, games and downloading apps, so any advice on which to choose please?
I did read that the Samsung Tablet has a SD card slot and so it would mean that if I bought that one I could save money by getting the 16gb and if i needed more memory that it can be achieved by the SD memory card.
Many thanks for reading this0 -
As someone said, if you have a smartphone you can tether it which means it acts as a modem so you can connect your tablet to it so there is really no need for 3G. Always go for the wi-fi option (IMO)
To be honest nowadayas on the latest smartphones, it is simply a case of turning this on to enable it.0 -

I'm not sure how Android apps work, I don't know if you can install them on multiple devices. Hopefully someone who is more familiar with Android will reply.0
