I never returned an order for the simple reason of not wanting it. I have only ever returned items that are faulty, that is not unreasonable!

I also had an issue with Argos to, when I purchased a new PAYG mobile phone. When I ordered the phone at the till, the woman stated that I would also have to buy £10 worth of credit. When I collected my item from the till, I noticed the box had already been opened as the sticky tab showed the word ‘Void’.

The manager came over and stated that it was a new policy taken up by Argos to ensure the contents of the box. I asked if he could show me this policy on paper. He then stated it was an unofficial policy adopted by this store. Based on this, I asked for a full refund. The manager said he could refund the phone but not the top up. I argued and said, the top up is no longer any good to me without the phone, and that they should have informed me about their practices so I could have made a better informed decision before making the purchase. Therefore, they should take the £10 hit as they made me buy the top up with my purchase and failed to inform me of their practices.

I won my argument and got a complete refund, but I hated the hassle!

What was wrong with the phone, you didn't even give it a chance. You could have checked it and verified what the Argos manager told you. You are a problem customer and the phone saga proves it.

You do seem to have fair share of problems I have used Amazon since 1999 and I haven't once returned anything. I did have a problem with lost tv 2 years ago which was sorted. Likewise with ebay 100% record out of 93 purchases similar time frame only once returned an item in that time which was faulty

How am I a problem customer, it clearly stated on the box 'please do not accept if this label is damaged or reads 'void'.

They obvious disagree and they have every right to not want you even if you were genuine returns all retailers can refuse custom they dont have to give a reason and if you try and start a new account I am sure they find you out. Time to take custom else where

What do you mean I'm not a victim? I've only ever returned items that need to be returned!

For example, earlier this year I placed an order via Amazon for a £280.00 tablet. Within 24 hours I was having problems with the device when the on screen keyboard was not registering the correct letters when typing. Even so I kept if for a couple of days to see if the problem would somehow correct itself. Unfortunately it didn't, therefore I returned the item explaining the problem and requested a full refund.

Are you saying it is acceptable for me to pay £280.00 of my hard earned cash for a tablet that does not work correctly? Should I have to accept something that dosn't work as it should and they keep my £280.00?

Most touch screen devices allow you to reset the screen allignment. Simply waiting for it to do it itself, rarely works.

Ive just sold a phone that said void on - even though its never been opened. It just peeled back slighly in transit. Thankfully - you weren't the buyer :D

Most phones i have bought have been opened and resealed. Its necessary in most cases - to stop scammers. The void sticker is a nonsense if you ask me.

Shame Amazon encourage sellers to cancel sales though. Last week i bought 3 items - ALL were cancelled by the seller - and all record of the sales removed from my account - so i cannot leave feedback. Hardly breeds confidence in their feedback system.

The box that the phone came in had clearly been opened ,as the lid was sitting squiff along with the label issue. For all I know, the phone could have been dropped by a member of staff upon inspection causing internal damage. Then, if I leave the store and try to return the product, they could then argue that I may have dropped the phone which resulted in damage. Luckily for myself ,I do not afford anyone the opportunity to place the blame on me. If I’m spending good money, I want to know what I am getting and to be sure that it is in good working order.

It comes from working in the construction industry. I learnt all these basics rules as an apprentice, and now that I’m a manager you realise how important it really is. When a delivery arrives on site, I go through every order with a fine tooth comb, checking the list item by item. I’m looking for damaged goods which could be anything from top quality furniture to building materials. If I want straight lengths of timber, I state that it is for joinery purposes, that way I get what I want and not a load of rough timber that is shaped like a boomerang. Before I sign on that dotted line I want to know that all items are present, correct and undamaged. I couldn’tcare less how long it takes or if it’s an inconvenience to the delivery driver.

I’m not one of these people who are too scared or shy to say anything if something is wrong, and if sellers don’t like it, then maybe they shouldn’t be in that sort of business.
