If you have 5 weeks, wait 5 weeks.
Shortly after the S2 was released I picked one up for £20/mo @ Tesco with no upfront fee.[/QUOTE]

They're completely different phones/operating systems etc.
The Galaxy S III may very well have dropped in price by the time the new iPhone comes out - but by then it will be 4 months old. (with a successor very likely just around the corner)0 -
It is very likely for S3 to go down in price when iPhone 5 is announce likely to be around oct. The Samsung is not going to have the same price as iPhone, it need to lower them in the hope of some iPhone users might move to s3.
No s4 will not be around the corner, s3 will be replaced in one year not six months. The 8 to 9 months is not around the corner.0 -

They already have .
But really it all depends upon how the S3 is selling not how much the IPhone is going to retail at .Yes we all know that phones gradually drop in price . But with Samsung selling 50 million smartphones in the last quarter and with other price point models arriving they are not going to try to beat Apple with a price war .Possible next year pre a SGS4 launch prices will drop a fair slice . Of course if the IPhone is a huge leap forward in technology that will be a different matter but i cannot see any huge leap in the net few years . Of course Siri will have improved and start to move away from a joke shop to a more integrated user app than ever before .
The huge leap forward has already been made in part and if Apple produce an award winning device then the war is over for Nokia Rim and Windows and i can even see a PC running an Android type of Linux along side the Apple products to replace the traditional Windows software as users become used to and want an APP driven interface .
Apple attorney Josh Krevitt sums up his company's plight, remarking, "Samsung is always one step ahead, launching another product and another product.

Who mentioned anything about an S4?
It's very likely that the current S3 will be superceded by either another lower priced S3 derivative, or an overall lower priced model altogether in the short term (with similar specs to their current flagship model), with a new "Galaxy Sx" type launch next year.
3-4 months in phone tech terms can be an eternity (especially with 4G in the UK just around the corner)
iPhone owners are going to continue to want iPhone products.
Android owners like the idea of the freedom that Android gives them - so would be unlikely to change their buying habits, and purchase an iPhone.
To make an assumption that the iPhone is likely to influence the price point of the S3 is ill-informed at best.
The 2 phones appeal to different markets/segments of buyers.
It's impossible to make a direct comparison of price, due to the fact that the S3 will already be at least 3-4 months old when the 'yet to be announced' iP5 makes its appearance.0 -
Only way we will know is if S3 drops in price at the time of iPhone release and if network start to offer at a cheaper price.
If both appeal to different markets and if it is true then networks will not try to make S3 cheaper at the time of release of iPhone 5.0 -
As much as you might like it to, the world doesn't revolve around the bloody iPhone you know.
Anyway, the OP is asking about the S3, so let's try to keep this an Android v Apple free zone eh?0 -
Thanks for the opinions
The 2 cashback deals I saw have both expired and been replaced by similar ones
Still curious if summer is a quiet time for business and they will be less generous in September
And to repeat myself the S3 dropped a price point in the last week or so, I cant see it going much cheaper in the immediate future (ie Sept) when the iphone 5 is released0 -
I dont think anyone will have the answer for you.
If you feel this is the right price get the S3.0
