Computer switching itself off

Hi all
Thought I'd ressurect this thread than start a new one.
Finally managed to prise the computer away from the users hands (using a crowbar) and swapped out the PSU with one I had spare.
It doesn't fit in the case so she's running it with no top on (just for Paddrg)
It's running fine with the new PSU so it looks like it was the original that was faulty.
It was bought as a refurb around January time (I've got the receipt somewhere).
Can I take it back for them to replace the PSU (I'm not sure of her rights here)?
Can I ask them to swap it for another machine and exchange all the other bits as well (extra RAM, graphics card, etc that I installed)?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
depends how long the warranty was originally when bought as a refurb, could have been 30, 60 90 days, 6 months, 12 months....best find that receipt and check......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
I think it said 3 months on hardware, but doesn't SOGA trump that (I'm not sure which is why I'm asking)?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Not on goods sold as refurbs, as there's no guarantee of their history......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

sounds like the case and PSU are microATX or something, I had a Dell 530s with a funny sized PSU. I bought a cheap standard sized case and PSU and installed all the components into that.0

It certainly looks like microATX from the googling I've been doing.
I can get a case and power supply from Evercase (thanks to GJ for the links) for about £60.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

I don't mind the bigger case (more room for manoeuver and probably better air-flow), but will all the components fit (especially the motherboard)?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

the motherboard will fit straight into any new case, the only problem you might find is that the layout of the metal shield that covers the gaps between the output ports may be a different layout to the original case. With the small form factor computers, you tend to find the holes punched into the case and not a separate piece of metal which you can use in the new case.0
