Hello :-)
If I was to make pasta bolognese and freeze it, would I need to defrost it before heating up or could I microwave from frozen?the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
i'd imagine you could heat from frozen in the microwave. i've seen frozen spag bol ready meals, that you nuke from frozen.
i've never tried tho. hopefully someone who has tried it can give you some more help than i.0 -
i freeze tubs of 'readymade' spaghetti bolognese for the children and just microwave them from frozen! usually give them a stir half way through.
tastes and looks fine!
i freeze left over portions of pretty much every meal, then zapp and eat!0 -
I usually make my DD a large lasagne and she portions it up at home as only her and DGD like lasagne so a big one will do them 4-6 meals.
Last week DGS Danny tried some as he was very hungry when he came home from work late because of the snow/train delays and now has decided that he too likes it,weird, because he scoffed the lot and never said a word about the mushrooms in it yet he has always said he didn't like mushrooms .Strange what you will eat if your really hungry:):)

jackieo, nuking home made portions of lasgne sounds delish. i love home made lasagne.
i don't own a microwave , but i'm thinking of getting one again. how long roughtly ( i know it all depends on portion size) would it take to nuke a portion of lasagne ?0 -
Hi jcr16,
It takes roughly 3 minutes to microwave an average sized portion of defrosted lasagne. If cooking from frozen it will probably take 5 - 6 minutes but doesn't taste as good as I have found the outside to be overcooked before the middle is piping hot.

thanks for that pink. would covering it in cling film or such help prevent the outside to overcook ?0

I have a plastic thingy (sorry there must be a better word for it than thingy) that I cover it with and it still over cooks. Perhaps others have had better experiences, but I'd definitely recommend cooking once it's defrosted.
