Better to mix left over sauce with pasta, or add a drop of olive oil before freezing. This makes it freeze better and thaw drier and not turn to mush.

As usual I have got half a pan of pasta left over, nothing on it, just plain, I dont really want pasta again for the next few days, so was wondering if it can be frozen and would it reheat ok?

I have often cooked two or three times the amount I need intentionally. As I'm a singleton, I reckon I'm saving on fuel on doubling up on the amount I cook.

If you freeze it in a microwavable container it is ready to heat up when needed. I do defrost it first, but not sure if this is essential.

It'll keep for 7 days or more, easily. Pasta (by my experience) if cooked and sealed hot, does not seem to go off!

And yes, you can freeze it fine. Defrost it or just nuke from frozen, it's all good.

I freeze pasta in a tub with whatever sauce I've served with it plonked on top & its always been fine. My DH takes it to work for his 'lunch' at 3am - he does nights :D He takes it straight out of the freezer & microwaves it with no problems.
  • Hi

    I hope someone can help.
I was wondering if I could freeze pasta after it has been cooked.

    Thanks

Yep I do it regularly, although it's normally in sauce, tastes yummy though!
  • Thanks very much to both of you. I know it probably seemed a daft question but I just wasn't sure, and everyone one this site has been helpful. I am definitely changing my life to be more MSE.
