Ouch! Do you have ground for being mis-sold your endowment to see if you could get any compensation? I did this earlier this year and received over £1k. Don't pay a company to do it for you. I went on the Which website, looked up all the valid reasons for complaint and sent mine off. I've been on hol so hadn't seen this till now, did you manage to pay the last months mortgage ok. Sorry about the job- it's so rubbish looking for employment at the minute.:(
Hi Spendless.
Yes i did look into mis-sold endowment and had got a payout, i had been drip feeding my morgage over the first 3 ish years because if i'd have paid it all in one go i'd have paid fees so seeing my sig you'll see the last few years has seen a significant drop in the balance of my mortgage.
We have a new Morrisons being built at the moment thats being opened up in November so i have applied for a job their, it's much closer to the last job interview i'd been to so will be so much less in travel costs should i get a job.

Could I have a copy of the cookbook too, please?
One way to cut down is to think of a meal that's made with vegetables - and then add small quantities of meat - so, you make a vegetable casserole with tomatoes, carrot, potato and courgette - and then you add a couple of sausages chopped up, rather than making 'sausage casserole', as that requires a pack of sausages, a packet mix and so on.
If you are making something cheesy, concentrate on adding cheese to the top, not in all the different layers, such as in lasagne - just use white sauce on all but the top. Same with fish pie and any pasta dish.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Hi,
I would be very grateful if somebody could also pm me a copy of the misers cookbook. Thankyou!
Just wondered if anyone has found a use for paper bricks other than for using in a fire inside the house. For example would they work in a barbeque or anything else?0 -

To save even more have to tried the Seven Day Fiscal Fast on here, its really good and will keep you focussed.I have got my shopping down to three times a month now, and by only buying what's needed and not wanted, its made quite a difference as well
I use lentils and grated carrots to streeetch out meals These freebie eggs your giving away to family and friends can't you intrduce a 'swop' system whereby for half a dozen eggs, you maybe get a jar of jam, or some veg in exchange Even a packet of loo rolls or toothpaste will save you pennies in your shopping I would happily swop something I have in excess, for free range eggs Your not selling them, only going back to the old system of bartering . Friends and family know you need a bit of help and if they're too tight to help you out then their not much good as friends.
Soon the blackberries will be ready for picking and freezing If you know anyone with an apple tree offer eggs in exchange for apples. I had some apples left by my eldest DD when she went away on holiday last week and I peeled and stewed gently in a drop of honey and lemon juice and when cold packed into rectangular plastic 'chinese ' boxes and put into the bottom of my freezer for use in pies and crumbles later on this year when the weather turns cold.
She also left 4 peppers in her fridge which I have chopped and frozen for later as well in boxes I never throw anything away if its at all edible if I can freeze it I will, and if not then I'll adjust my menus to eat it up before it goes off.
This morning I have some potatos to peel boil and mash then when cold will use an ice cream scoop to get portions in round ball shapes these will also be frozen for use later I am going away on holiday shortly to from now until I go I am running down my fresh food so when I go I will leave no food to be thrown away.Check your nectar card if you have one sometimes a few pounds on there comes in handy for groceries in Sainsbobs
Only use the iron for things that really need ironing the rest if your the only one looking at uit then don't bother
Boiling up a kettle of water ,put the remainder into a flask for later saves the electic. There are lots of small ways you can eke out you money a bit I know its boring and not much fun but I do all these things as second nature and just don't think about it .By doing this I have a week in the spring on holiday and a fortnight in the summer.I am a pensioner and live on a fixed income but can live quite well on the cash I have by thinking about what I need and not want before I go to the shops .
I have PMd you re ; 'My Online Misers Cookbook'
best wishes
JackieO

sorry to hear above I wanna live for free. :(Must drive you mad! I wasn't advocating turning off the oven whilst you're still using it! Just turning off from wall when not in use so you're not wasting leccy powering the oven/microwave clock.
sq:)
drives me blinking batty! But he's getting better about opening his mouth and asking "are you done with that ring" before just turning it off.0
