Hi Chums Just had a jiggle about with the Box thingy and have put some more stuff on there and 'shared' it so if you want to follow the link in post No.153 hopefully it should be ok to see some more stuff. Its all trial and error for me uploading stuff as I'm not a very 'techy' person at all.So do let me know if it works and opens up all the bits
    Cheers chums

Its amazing the power of the internet that has got everyone, almost as it was when I was a little girl, passing on bits of news and information in an 'over the fence ' sort of way.I think this has shown what good can come from this new sort of media. The internet is always being slated for the wrong things that happen, but the fact that my collection of recipes drawn together over a long period ,some mine, some from the folk on here, has gone out to over the past couple of years several hundred people who in turn have forwarded it on to their friends is great Similar to dropping a small stone in a big puddle and watching the way the ripples fan out.I am pleased that those who have been able have passed it on and I shall continue to add to my collection with some of the terrific stuff that gets posted on here.
My late ma-in-law had a cook book that came from her Gt, Grandma, apart from the stuff printed in it there were lots of recipes written on scraps of paper that had been handed down to the following daughters and daughter-in-law.After my Ma-in-law died by the time we had sorted out lots of bits in her house I found that my late brother-in-law had chucked it out I was so upset, as I would have loved it even just for the historical and social value. He thought it was just an old cook book full of scraps of paper and thought no one would want it (typical bloke) I keep all the recipes if I can that I have used and remember from my late mum, and my DDs both have them copied down Since having a computer its so much easier, and when I see someone has posted something i fancy, or think is an inexpensive one, it goes straight into my folder(all ways backed up :):))I think I will in furure add who had posted them as it will be nice to give them a wee nod of thanks .My inbox has now emptied out a bit thank goodness .It was a bit overwhelming last night as I hadn't realised the amount of folk around who would have been that interested .Thanks again to all who have helped spread the word
    Cheers everyone

I've been lurking and reading for the first time today, what a lovely bunch you are.

I so agree with you about helping each other, I'm a great believer in karma

I'm lucky That I've got my grans old cookbook. Being on my own now I don't use it much, but it's a wonderful piece of social history showing the latest in kitchen equipment from the 1949s. Oh what I'd give to have grans old metal mincer...

My mum in law passed away recently and she loved baking for her family. When her husband was sorting out her things he asked if I wanted any of her jewellery and I said no, but could I have her baking tins though? I couldn't bear the thought of them going in the bin because she spent so much time using them, it felt like they were much closer to her than any jewellery so he gave them to me.

I actually got rid of some of mine to keep hers, but I didn't mind that as there was no history to mine really, but hers came with shed loads of memories. I like to think she is keeping an eye on whatever I put into the oven now lol!
:hello:  please play nicely children !

Hmm, rather annoyed with myself as i wasted some money a couple of days ago :(.....I was at work (volutary job) on my lunch break, ate a plum and had an anaphalactic attack, i had my epi pen with me but i didn't class this as one of my "full blown" attacks so as i didn't have my anti histimines on me my manager went out to get me some....£3 they cost me  BUT i got £1 of that back the next day when i took my mum to tesco and someone had left a pound in the trolly :D, on top of that i got told of by my daughter for not taking all my meds out with me but i suppose she has a point :o.
