I find this recipe a good way to use up leftover plonk
serves 4
120z / 350g spirali pasta (or similar)
50z / 150g smoked bacon (optional)
2 cloves garlic peeled and crushed
1oz / 25g butter
400g chicken livers trimmed cut into large pieces
4tbsp marsala or red wine (I've also used leftover port from an unwanted pressie)
1 level tbsp finely chopped sage
salt pepper
cook pasta
put bacon & garlic in frying pan for 3-4 mins. put on plate.
add butter to pan then fry chicken livers for about 2-3 mins. Keep turning so browned evenly. add red wine, sage, seasoning, add bacon mixture and simmer 1 min. add pasta and serve. Yum !!0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Mix it with fruit juice to give it a bit of zing. Or, give it away to a complete stranger as a random act of kindness.

If you don't actually like wine, trying to use it up in a recipe will just be a waste of both it and your other ingredients, and to be honest you'd be better off pouring it down the sink
. For people who like the taste of wine, it is lovely in a casserole or other recipe, but usually those who don't like the taste will also turn their nose up at a cooked dish which contains it and would actually prefer the dish without it.
I'm with those who have suggested that you re-gift the wine next time someone you know drinks alcohol has a special occasion, and use the money you have saved by doing this to buy something you would like or need. Or offer it as a raffle prize for a charity you like and support. You shouldn't force yourself to consume it just because it was given to you, by someone who obviously doesn't know you well enough in the first place to know you don't drink.0 -
Thanks for all the ideas. I think I might just give it to someone who does drink!0

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
You can use it in a risotto. Sweat onions in butter add risotto for 1 minute until translucent then add a large glass of white/rose wine. Allow the alcohol to boil out for a few minutes then add the stock gradually until cooked. Finish by adding 50-100g grated cheese and it's delicious.
Red wine is really good in casseroles, beef bourginon or my favourite coq au vin.0
