Saturday 28th July Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Sunny, bright but not quite so warm here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. WM on as we speak, will put this on the line to dry. Managed to strip boys beds yesterday, washed bedding and got it line dried and DS2's re-made, DS1's bed leaving to air but will remake either today or tomorrow - his bed won't be slept in for the next 3 weeks!
DS1 got off ok on his hols, they will be somewhere in France now, en route to Ardeche, hoping they all have a great time.
Dinner last night was 4 bird roast, potatoes, carrots, broccolli and gravy - was really lovely although not cheap, nice to have something like that in for emergency guests etc.
Have an on-line grocery shop being delivered this morning between 8-10am, once this has been delivered will shoot off to SM, DH has invited friends to stay for a buffet tonight, they are having a bit of a hard time at the moment and they have always been very good friends to us, so hoping this will cheer them up a bit. Won't be anything fancy just a normal buffet type meal, and of course, as I didn't know they were coming I don't have that kind of food in or have the right items to make it!
Will go and get my hair dried and some make-up on, don't want to scare the delivery driver this early in the morning!
Remember the sun cream - it's really hot/muggy here again already!
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning nlmc and all who follow
I loved the Olympic Opening Ceremony last night, thought it was stunning in parts. I did get a bit bored of the flag parade though! So I'm slightly shattered from staying up til 1am watching it!
Today I am off to the Olympicsgoing to watch Ladies football in Cardiff, New Zealand V Brazil. I won the tickets in work :j. There are four of us going, I'm driving and we are going to use the park & ride I think from the motorway. It will be a mad dash back aferwards as I'm meant to be going out with the uni girls fora meal tonight.
OS wise - nothingbut then again nothing needs doing! :rotfl:
Have a fab day all

Morning all
WM finished & sheets on the line, hubby's been dropped at work, fish fed & I'm sat here with breakfast & waiting for DGD2 to arrive, DD & the rest of the family are going to Cardiff for the football too flutterby. As DGD2 is 18 months old I have made no plans, lol I may take her down to the river to feed the ducks, but if it's too hot, we'll just play in the garden with a bowl of water & a few plastic pots.
Time I put her travel cot up, I can't do it with her underfoot as she's into everything.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning nmlc, flutterby and everyone else
Sunshine and showers here, but might be able to get washing out later. Need to do food shopping, washing/ironing, clean bathroom and sort out more stuff for CS (kids' clothes and old toys mostly).
I went out with a few friends for a meal last night (one was 40), didn't drink as I drove, then watched back end of Olympic ceremony (will have to watch on catch-up), so very late to bed for me!
Have a good day all, hope the sun shines for you, hugs and kisses all round.

Morning All
I didn't expect the opening ceremony to be as good as it was, because for the first 15 minutes I was bored, it was a bit too cliched, but when it got going it was great and the cauldron is so clever. I got choked up seeing Mohammed Ali having to be helped to stand, even so it was lovely that he was there. I liked the idea of the young athletes lighting the cauldron as a group, what a great idea.
I am another who has washing to do, one lot is on the line and another in the machine.
Dinner tonight is gammon steaks with salad and new potatoes.
Enjoy the sun while we still have it xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Morning :hello:
I had a really lazy day yesterday. Had a shower then flitted around the house til noon, wearing just mr tru's shirtGot changed, went to Morrison's and the Wall's factory shop to stock up on ice cream. When we got back, I changed into the shirt again, ate ice cream and pizza then watched some recorded programs. I felt like I should watch the olympic ceremony - even though I didn't really want to - and was so enthralled with it that I fell asleep :rotfl:
It's sunny but cool so I'm going to sort out some stuff in the garden and clean out the chicken shed. I'm hoping it stays this way, the guinea pigs need to get outside for a run on the grass. They've had the run of the kitchen for the past few days but that's not good enough
Right, better get the washing on and get dressed.Bulletproof0 -
