but you can't go to the counter now, so I'm not sure with the change from today

orginally they may do it for you, but not sure with the recent changes

Bank of Scotland don't seem to have the same restrictions on the use of the counter that Halifax do.

Guess I'll find out the hard way if they'll issue me a cheque or not.

Kilty why do you need a cheque from Halifax Bank of Scotland when you can use your LTSB Under 19 a/c cheque book??

Many cardcash customers still have chequebooks anyhow

the counter thing is being rolled out for those accounts (not others) - my guess is that it will be BOS soon too

ejones999, I'll use the LTSB one if the worst comes to the worst.

Opening an account that requires a cheque deposit and I'd rather pull it straight from BOS without transferring to LTSB first.
  • Be prepared to pay for it then!
  • You mean HBOS,

Halifax are still separate in their own right, as are Bank of Scotland, but majority of things are the same

    I know - I work for them too ;)
:D I understand ALOT more than I care to let on :D

If you use your debit card to buy something in a foreign currency there is a charge. Why should a cheque be any different? You could not write yourself a cheque in USD so a charge is levied for this service.

not if you have a Nationwide debit card! No charge for foreign currency transactions.
  • nationwide dont charge for normal cashiers cheques either, not sure about a foreign currency one but they seem to be the best place to deal with foreign currency, with no unreasonable fees for spending.

Can I please point out that this was not a cashiers cheque, but a foreign draft
