I would say Ascot is proabably closest. It's about 5 miles from Legoland. Gorse Hill at Woking is not too far and East Horsley is a good base for doing Legoland, Chessington, Hampton Court, Mercedes Benz world. Several others are within reasonable distance from Legoland.

Elsie - sorry I can't remember quite how it works but I'm sure it must have been easy of I managed it in the early hours of the morning. I remember it was much more straight forward than trying to book a Travelodge room.

The rooms don't go on sale till 10am, when I booked a room in the spring sale I looked under the offers and it will show the hotels and all the dates and prices so you can look at multiple hotels at the same time. I booked a family room which was included in the sale, I also booked over the phone which was so quick and easy for those of you that prefer that to doing it online.

Yes I've tried with different hotels, different dates, same result. I think family rooms aren't included in this deal so it's a bit pointless that kids can go free!
