Aldi computer offer

Options
Is this worth considering,

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_25892.

Or would I be better looking at a Dell eqivalent with intel chip, the main uses are for web, spreadsheet and word processing, also a little data management .

  • I have two Medions the one i am on now is above 4 years old and still going strong,i think it is a good price for the computer.
Also with Aldi you get a 3 year warranty with most of their goods i would think they still give this with the computers but not 100% sure.

    Looks like a good deal.
comes with everything required except a monitor.
I paid pretty much almost that just for my motherboard bundle and pc case, without the internal 1tb drive and operating system
and mine doesnt have wireless built in.
I also didnt get a new keyboard and mouse or usb 3. or memory card reader.

I've also had 2 Medions from Aldi over the last 7 or 8 years and had no problems apart from the triangular start button on the front which gave way recently - all it does is press a microswitch so I've just removed it.

My current (4 year old) one runs very quietly and has plenty of connectivity. The supplied keyboard and mouse are pretty cheap and I immediately fitted wireless Logitech ones in their place.

The Office 2010 software is a basic version and I now use the free Libre Office which does more than I would ever use.

Not sure about the 3 year warranty but I would certainly buy another one from them.

If I purchased one is there slots to upgrade the ram to 8 gig and once again is the cp good enough compared to Intel.

My Medion tower has been going for over 9 years now, although with fairly light use. However it was branded Cybercom, made in Germany.
I think you can get a further £5 off Aldi via a newspaper voucher; see Grabbit board.

It doesn't say how many USB ports it has.....

    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

CPU ranks 96 in the list, equivalent to top-end i5/mid-range i7

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Would this pc have a HDMI connection that I could connect a TV to and use as a temporary monitor.

No one has knocked the spec, so do I assume it is reasonable?
