If you have a friend with a car, couldn't you get them to come round, and then borrow their battery for long enough to move yours?

Most cars have an autolock override switch. On most Japanese or Korean cars there is normally a visible flap/cover next to the gear lever into which you insert the ignition key or flat blade screwdriver. You can then push the gear lever to N. On European cars the autolock is normally hidden under the gaiter, and if you are scrapping the car then just rip it apart anyway to get to it.

On some renaults and volvos you don't even need to go through all that hassle. Simply put the shift into neutral and its in neutral :)

Better still, the autoboxes in some volvos are made by asin-warner who also supply toyota, lexus and some other brands.

OK, give in, some cars are boringly easy to "slip the cogs" others are easy to knacker the box. You choose.

British people have now lost the capability of thinking for themselves, it is the fault of your nanny state, who make the decisions for you. So welcome to all the EU people who have still some common sense.

Or take the battery off and charge it up in the house.

You may wish to rethink that one.....

A lead acid car battery should only be charged in a well ventilated area.

  • Get a 2 pence coin or flat head screw driver and remove the top plastic screw tops and top up with distilled water then replace tops and charge the battery.
If you dont want to buy water just boil the kettle and allow to cool completely and that is the same thing.

If all you want to do is move the car a short distance so you can get a second car close enough to jump start it (I think that is what you mean) then borrow a trolley jack and jack the driving wheels of the ground, should be easy pushable then.

Buy a new battery. Fit it. Start car. Drive to scrappie. Swap battieres. Take new battery back for refund.

OP if you do that, buy the battery from Harveybobbles and then return it to him

So if I was to get a kettle full of water, put in a splash of weedkiller and then boil then boil it, would you would be happy to drink the water once it had cooled down?
If not, why not? After all, if the boiled water is the same as distilled water, there is no way that you could be harmed.

Boiling simply kills any bacteria in the water. It does nothing to remove any chemicals or solid matter that is present.
