tmobile full monty rip off?

First post, on a mobile, whilst angry about a 470 quid bill, this isn't going to be pretty!
I went to France, took an old sim4travel card with me, free incoming calls, my wife can call me using our 2000 inclusive mins on tmobile. That's where the fun ended, the massive bill was because "although its a uk number... it was in France when you called it, so its classed as an international call". We did a rough costing, 60p/min. Its less than 29p to call a french mobile, pretty much the same if I had taken my tmobile sim to france and called home.
They even tried charging the high price when I was back in the uk using the sim4travel as I was driving to and from the ferry. I contacted customer services, asked where on the website it said that if a uk sim is abroad tmobile will cripple me when I call it... "we can't find it on there, but we will try to get it put on, thanx for pointing this out" or words to that effect. I'm still waiting for the email confirming that this clause isn't available for joe public to read.
So to recap, the agreement on their website isn't the agreement they bill you by. I wonder what other caveats they can call upon at whim?. My wife also used her orange sim to call me on the sim4travel... that was part of her inclusive allowance as you would expect. Before any one says "read the T&C on the sim4 travel... I did, that's why I spent the time reading all the info on the tmobile website.

  • Surely if the T&Cs don't include this clause this is a case for the regulator?

Maybe. How do I get the ball rolling with the regulator? They openly admitted over the phone that the info wasn't on the website. I have little faith in tmobile at the moment, I don't think they care too much to be honest. If I get an international ringtone when I dial a uk mobile, its going to cost me 60p/min, sounds dodgy doesn't it?

If you call a UK number that is overseas you won't pay anything different.

Sounds like the travel sim is on a prefix which T-Mobile exclude from their minute bundle.

OP - can you give us the first 5 digits of the sim4travel number please? (07xxx)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Presumably your SIM2travel number is assigned to one of the mobile networks in the Channel Islands or Isle Of Man. Calls to these numbers are specifically excluded from T-Mobile's price plans, see http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/terms-and-conditions/pay-monthly/:
If you join Full Monty 36 you'll get 2000 minutes to check your voicemail, to call the customers of other UK mobile networks and to call landlines starting with 01, 02 and 03 (excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man). You'll also get unlimited calls other T-Mobile customers and unlimited texts to UK mobile networks and landlines starting with 01, 02 and 03 (excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) .

On all our other Full Monty plans you'll get unlimited minutes to call other customers of UK mobile networks, to check your voicemail and to call landlines starting with 01, 02 and 03 (excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man). The Channel Islands and Isle of Man are not part of the United Kingdom.

title should be op didn't read, not T-Mobile ripoff http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/services/going-abroad/
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    How to receive calls

While roaming, someone calling you from the UK pays the same to call you as they do normally, but you pay to receive their call. You're really paying for the call to be forwarded to the country you're in. You'll both pay the relevant rate for the whole call.

I think Sim4travel is an MVNO on Jersey Telecom and therefore would not be included in UK call allowance.
