It could be that the OP did not have a Channel Island number .

Sim4Mobile group also use 07404 numbers etc. They are apparently not treated as UK Mobile Calls by T-Mob.

    http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/terms-and-conditions/inclusive-allowances/

    Their is also this:

"Which calls and text messages to mobile numbers are excluded from my allowance?

Calls and texts to some numbers starting 07 are not included in your allowance. Excluded mobile numbers include (but are not limited to) numbers used to provide call forwarding

services, as well as to some MVNO number ranges.

For a full list of 07 number ranges that are not included in allowances please visit the “help & Support” section of our website, t-mobile.co.uk. We may add numbers to the list of

excluded mobile numbers from time to time at our discretion.

Please also note that if you are calling someone who has ported an excluded mobile number to another operator, calls to that number may still be excluded from your allowance."

07404 is included in FullMonty I believe....
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

To the trolls and keyboard ninjas, thanx for making me smile. For the people who genuinely wish to help... thanx. The number is +447509219xxx and tmobil honestly said it was because the phone was abroad when it was called. Again, they can't find the clause in there own website. I called an Austrian guy I know, cost less than 30p/min not the 60p or there abouts they charged me. Yes the fact the number still attracted the 60p/min when it was in the uk was also pretty awful. No I didn't port the number its as it came. Oh, and the local phone shop hadn't heard of it being an issue either. Hopefully I haven't left to many spelling errors or punctuation glitches so the thread gets hijacked ;-)

This is a Jersey Telecom number, so most UK networks would not include it in bundles of calls to UK mobile numbers; as was said earlier, the Channel Islands are not in the UK, despite using the UK's +44 country code.

Because the number is issued outside the EEA, it is possible that the EU roaming regulation doesn't apply either.

NFH is correct - according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_numbers_in_the_United_Kingdom: 07509xxxxxx are Jersey mobile numbers.

So the reason for the high charges is because T-mobile's charging system treats it as phone calls to a mobile in Jersey. It is irrelevant whether you were in France or Britain, it is always charged as a call to Jersey.

Mobile phone calls to Jersey can be more expensive than calls to Europe because the Channel Islands are not in the EU.

So the real explanation is now clear.

However it seems that the T-mobile staff hadn't got a clue as to the real reason for the charges. So rather than asking someone more knowledgeable, they appear to have just come up with a (nonsense) "explanation" which you rightly reject.

So T-mobile's charges are not incorrect, but it is very bad that they couldn't explain them. Staff training issue

    T-Mob handled this badly.

Useful site to check out numbers.

    http://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm

Run the number through it and your see it confirms a Jersey Telecom Mobile.

Heres the bit that covers it in the Full Monty T&C

Your inclusive minutes and texts are from the UK to UK mobile networks, voicemail, 08 services and numbers beginning 01, 02 and 03 (excluding Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man).

    http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/resources/sites/TMOBILE/content/live/DOCUMENTS/0/DO282/en_GB/36020372_PAYM2012_Full_Monty_v2.pdf

    Heres where SIM4travel warn you.

"Calls to a SIM4travel number may be deducted from bundle minutes as usual however this varies depending on your network operator. Out of bundle calls cost from 15p per minute. Always check with your network provider for their latest call charges for calling a mobile number starting 07509 (Jersey)."
    http://www.sim4travel.com/our_rates/

Cheap call supplier http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php treat 07509 numbers as UK ones. So f your in UK you could ring their 020 access number out of your T-Mob inclusive minutes and get calls to them for as little as 6p a minute 4p connection.
