Does your kids school have a Costa Coffee Bar?

A local school here has a Costa Coffee Bar inside it for all the kids to use. I wondered how common this was please, does your kids school have one?

    Serioulsy? That's outrageous!

We had 10p coffee machines when I was at school and the school still have similar now but it's 50p, but Costa Coffee? How many parents are in a position to be paying for their children to buy coffee there every day? I presume they're not selling it at a reduced rate so as not to fleece the kids too much.

I don't know of any school that has that, or anything similar. And I don't think it's a good idea either (for primary or secondary kids!). My school has vending machines (sweet and savoury snacks, none of them healthy; hot drinks including 'coffee'*; and fizzy drinks), and those are an equally bad idea IMO.

*=a brown liquid which does not taste anything like coffee to me but is marketed as such anyway :p

We had a tuck shop that sold us chocolates, crisps, fizzy drinks etc when I was at school....not a cup of coffee or tea in sight!

wow you guys just reminded me of the Klix machines we had at our high school 30 years ago - disgusting variations of hot beverages. Costa would have been brill - but not sure many of us could have afforded it!

Those are the ones! Black coffee with sugar and extra sugar, too hot to finish at break time :rotfl:

My brother had a nice little earner going queuing in the scrum for the tuckshop and then flogging stuff on for 100% markup to the kids who couldn't be bothered to queue. Sadly for him, when he got busted by the teachers, his notebook where he'd kept detailed accounts of outgoings and profits (sad child my brother) was a nice spot of evidence against him.

I'd love a Costa bar... for the teachers - I ain't coherent till cup of coffee number 3 on a morning!

No, it's not a primary school, it is secondary so from age 11. It is not a school I am planning on sending my kids to but a lot of my friends kids will be going there. Likewise, I do think it outrageous that kids can have coffee at all but after another discussion on another board I wanted to find out if any other schools have them.

I do not think they will ever go into Primary schools as kids do not have to take money - once in secondary they do and so the kids can spent it on whatever they like once there.

A bit of googling has found another couple of schools that have coffee stalls and bars and Costa does mention the opportunities of it on the Franchising section of the site but this particular school does not advertise the Coffee Bar being there on their website and so I was wondering if there was more schools that had one. It is new and opens in September, but still, I was a bit horrified to hear that a local school had a Costa Coffee - I thought it was a joke to start with but no, my friend told me that it is there as her daughter starts in September.
