ours is £350 for hire 10am to Midnight. £25pp 4 course meal and doing corkage in wine to bring down that expense.0

Ours was quoted at £1,850.
Thats for ceremony room hire, Arrival drinks and wedding reception for 35.
Buffet for 53.
All table linens and chair covers etc. Centrepieces, patio decoration, drinks during reception, private bar, bridal suite and use of the spa facilities for a month before the day0 -
Mines not MSE at all I'm afraid. It's £4,000 for the venue and £6,000 for food and drink.
So you can pay anything but if you have a budget just try and stick to it.
Hope you find somewhere0 -
We're paying £5000 but that's for 50 guests all day including canapes, arrival drink, three course meal and coffee, half bottle of wine each with dinner, drink for toast and evening buffet. The £5000 also include 40 extra guests evening buffet and no extra room hire, plus our room for the night.

Just to give a perspective from the other side...my venue is costing over 15 grand. That includes food and drink and 5 bedrooms and various bits and pieces, but still...
Phew, glad it's not just me. Technically, if you take the "venue" to be just the marquees, we were probably around the 2k mark...But including food, staff etc it added up to A LOT more

I'm not sure if the OP is asking how much was your venue or how much was your reception/package...
Again technically the venue we used was free...a lovely country house hotel with exclusive use ....the price per person for the package for our 56 day guests was substantially more
It will also depend what type of wedding you want....we held an evening reception at a seperate venue and catered i for it ourselves the hire of the hall being around £100 and I think we fed about 250 evening guests for around £2.50 per head in a buffet style....so whilst that seems more than some spend on the whole food element of their wedding you need to balance that out with the numbers you invite and the style of reception you want....
I would certainly say that self catering is substantially cheaper but there is a lot more work involved in the sourcing and preparation and it really does help if you can call in a few favours from people who are willing!
Something to ask the venue is whether you can bring your own prepared food or whether it has to be supplied by a caterer...whilst some of these venues dont mind you using your own caterer...they will insist on an approved caterer so you may find that you will need to hire someone with correct food certification rather than make your own buffet.Basically some venues insist on proper food storage via approved caterers to reduce the instances of food poisoning....something which the venue would not want to be linked with in any form...the fact that they have said you can bring in your own caterers may mean that you cant just bring in your own food.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
We paid £1950 for 80 people to have a sit down two course meal, drinks on arrival and toasts and also an evening buffet catering for 70 people. I was chuffed with this price and the venue is included in this...and it's such a nice place!!!!

LEJC - intially I was asking about venue costs only, however the detail provider by the posters has helped in providing a better picture
Thank you all very much for your replies. I have learnt the following
1. The pricing range is HUGE. People on here have posted everything from £0 to £15k
2. What you get for that price also varies greatly, I cant believe people have got venue, 3 course meals, reception drinks, dj, toastmaster for under 3k!. I can only assume that this is nowhere near London
3. I thought I was a good negotiator but clearly I am not that good!.
I spoke to the venue today, to be politely told that the quote doesnt include the tables and chairs??!!
I think this site has got me scared to spend money, I have almost become obsessed with sticking to my budget to the point where I now need to post on here to help me make decisions haha!!0 -
