That looks amazing, and one I'd definitely prefer to do clockwise instead of anti-clockwise as it is described on the map. I'd much rather be flying down from falls creek to Bogong than climbing (or carrying my bike) up it.

Good luck with it. I tried and failed to cycle the Pennine Bridleway from the Mary Townely loop (the 47 mile loop we completed) down to Matlock which covers 73 miles (http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/trail.asp?PageId=39). We'll have another go at it one day. :)

That final climb back up to Falls Creek did for my mates that hadn't dropped out earlier in the ride. They got timed out on the climb after 13 hours of riding and put into the broom wagon.

I really want to cycle across the USA one summer with a support car. That's my great aim as a rider. I also want to ride across the Nulabor Plain.

I'll drive the car, but I can't promise to offer much support :T

You could stand over Gen while he's repairing a puncture, tutting and telling him how to do it properly, while taking periodic sips from a can of Budweiser.

You'd be amazed how helpful it is to have someone do that.

I had this sort of 'help' form my eldest daughter when I got a puncture while we were out mountain biking together. Instead of the advice I got bored shuffling of feet and sighs, instead of supping from a can of Bud she was texting on her phone. It all made the tyre change that much more pleasurable. :D

Good work your mate! I'd like to do some rides like that but only when I can afford to stay in nice hotels each night.

Cycle touring is a great way of seeing an area IMO.

Sounds great. I'm looking forward to the Generalissimos becoming teenagers so much that I've already started researching Aussie boarding schools.

when did you last update your "current" valuation, and how are you getting a valuation?

Although this isn't about mountain biking and is therefore 'off topic', I'll answer it.

I last updated my "current" valuation when the house was last valuated for mortgage purposes. The next time I get the house valuated will be in May when I arrange my next mortgage deal. At that point, my May 2010 valuation will be my "previous" valuation and my May 2013 valuation will become my "current" valuation (until I get the next mortgage deal). This will continue until the mortgage is paid off.

My MFW challenge is to increase my LTV for mortgage purposes, so the only metric I am interested in is the valuation the mortgage lender puts on my house, NOT what the house may be worth at a certain point in time.

I have no real interest in what my house is worth as I have no plans to sell it. I just want to have access to the best mortgage products available and to safeguard my IO mortgage status. To do this, a LTV of 50% is the prime number, so that is what I am aiming for.

Once I have hit this target and remortgaged, I'll start a new MFW challenge, possibly based on a mortgage vs salary multiple to cover me if this becomes an issue with mortgage lenders in the future.

i'm sure you'll have the wholehearted support of all members of the board for this new challenge when the time comes ;)
