    Well in this kharmic world ...

    Things are going good ...
    Things are going not so good.

    On the good side I have;
    • cleaned the grout in the bathroom using whitening toothpaste :D (not the same toothbrush!)
    • Painted numerous door frames
    • Sorted out the front garden
    • Half sorted the back garden
    • Got the painter round for a quote :eek::eek::eek:
    Yes the 'TO DO' list is getting smaller but so is the money.

    And so we come to the crunchy problem which is the same one I have had for 10 months or so.

    The need to get various jobs done and things paid for;
    - The washer in the bathroom tap
    - The painting of the back of the house
    - The speeding fine :mad::mad::mad:

    The worst thing about the back of the house was that I rang him about a month ago to give him notice about needing the back of the house painted. Quote £280 - Yes, not much I know, unless you have NO money, well actually £150 in savings.
    Can I pay with a card I say.
    I don't have a machine he says.
    So it's be cash which I have a chronic shortage of.

    When can you do it I say (after I've picked myself up off the floor!).
    AUGUST
    AUGUST

    Yes, that's right, that month after July, that month that is at least six weeks away. When I tell him I'm putting the house up for sale next week he does smarten up a bit. So...it's getting done by the end of the month and I just have to work out;
    a. How I get more time off!
    b. How I pay for it. Maybe I need to go and buy a stocking?

    Cash on a credit card - can you imagine:eek:
    Goes against the grain rather!

    Right - time to go back to the house and get hacking/painting! :D

    So plumber and painter BOTH turn up tomorrow - what's that saying about buses?!!!

    I am still hacking crap off a garage wall. In good news of the 'delving through ancient stuff and finding stuff' variety, I have found my geology hammer. This is from 28 years ago :T It's proving much lighter and better suited to the garage hacking job. I'm now remembering Andy Dufrayne hacking his way out of Shawshank so I'm sure it's up to the job (oh hang on, that was a novel!)

    I am also condensing things down into solid boxes so I can paint the half the garage I haven't. Seem to be making progress and have managed to add some distinguished Dickie Davis white streaks to my hair (with gloss).:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
    ...or maybe not so much that because gloss weighs a lot!

    Have had some help from an unexpected quarter which means all works will get done and house will get attached to an agent on Thursday. Then lets see how quick that baby can move :T

    Have found evidence of my Capital One PPI so am going to check out Martin's advice for asking for my money back on that and on the DFS sofa.

    So things keep rolling along at this end.

    Went to a works do on Friday and didn't buy any drinks :beer:. Only had a pint of bitter shandy though so maybe not that bad. Am getting a bit tired of feeling like I am constantly sponging off people. I am going to have some making up to do when I am finally released from the Albatross that is my hoose.

    In terms of paint drying....how exciting is my life? (rhetorical question for those of you yawning!!) 1 wall with cr*p cleared off, another one half done, three walls painted and half a floor. Have just been to B&Q to get efflurescent/brick cleaner. We'll see how that works.

    The rest of the house is ready apart from one skirting behind the bed and one under the radiator on the ground floor which both need painting and the top of the door. Next weekend I will need to wander round the house doing little jobs but I think we will look okay by the end of today. May post a piccy up if it looks okay, on here or the other place!

    Agent has been today to take photo's and I have signed the contract. They are going to do the details this week and I need to send them a key. Everything is moving. I am feeling mildly optimistic.

    Up again next weekend and then having a weekend off and staying down south (yes, all relative I know!) probably tending my garden and planting up strawberries. Anyone have any ideas of how physically to keep birds off the fruit - I have netting and am taking that back with me.

    Anyway would crack a joke but too tired!

    Back to the 'brick' face.

    B x

    p.s. Oh yes in other LESS stressful news! LOL. I have my sign language exam on Wednesday!!

    Seriously tired. Infact I think too tired to drive safely!
    Driving 145 miles south today in order to drive 50 miles NE tomorrow. So I've done that classy thing...sniffing the armpits of the dress I wore on Friday and it smells fine. Apart from the Anna Wintour faux pas of wearing a navy shrug with a navy dress it will be fine.

    And with that decided I'm going to get a small single bottle of wine and get this wall painted.

    Still one wall to do!

    Which will be getting done next Saturday!

    I'm on thhe road again (who was that song by?)

    Well after a horrible start this morning...fully packed up car followed by the thought 'The keys WERE in my hand'* then the realisation 10 miles down the road that the strawberry plants are on the back step...

    things are okay...I'm awake 30 miles from this mornings destination and I'm not a danger to the driving public...and I've managed to put on my make up!
