Champagne before any major task, up to and including opening a bottle of champagne is a good move... ;)

    Sooooo Hmmmmmm!!

Hello I'm Butti.....I've changed......I am no longer the wild profligate spender I used to be

There seems to be rather a lot happening this month.....herein follow a LONG line of excuses......and one of my friends has told me "Life is for living"....

Really think people shouldn't be giving me this sort of encouragement ........:rotfl: (Skinty!)
    • My neice is getting married in North America and I would like to go to this wedding
    • Supertramp are playing a gig in London
    • Cuba is not far from America
    • Cuba will change when the American's can get to it
    • Cuba will change when Castro dies

In addition Council tax and water rates are billing me for 3 months in one go  and My first mortgage payment is BIG. No, actually it's more like BIG

Actually maybe I have changed because in the BAAAAAAD old days I would have just put it on a credit card and if there wasn't a credit card available.....opened another credit card. :D

So in the bad old days I would have booked (on a credit card) for the wedding, Supertramp and Cuba.

As it is I have booked my flight for the wedding and Supertramp. I now have about £100 in my bank account and have depleted my savings to under four figures :eek::eek: but no additional borrowing on my credit card.

    I still haven't bought a bed or a car :o
but the single inflatable with double duvet combination is surprisingly comfortable.

    So the way it goes in my head is that I spend the next fortnight until next pay day checking all the addresses are correct on existing credit (MBNA card and bank accounts) and eating the contents of the fridge and freezer;

    kedgeree
    fish pie
    chorizo
the ole faithful Chickpea, tea and banana curry
    jacket spud and beans
    Fish finger sandwich with peas
    bacon risotto

After next pay day, rather than now, I buy a flight to Cuba for after my neice's wedding (circa £450) and get back on schedule for payments to MBNA (£350) and savings (£250). I live a quiet life with my paint roller and some walls. This is also how I plan to spend the next fortnight!
(Maybe the internet dating needs to wait a bit....or until I find a man who's heavily into fish fingers and painting! Shame David Tennant is taken!)

Bed gets bought with April pay.

In other news my dad wants to come down and help me decorate. Fortunately he can't until I get a bed. Maybe that bed purchase should get put off until...........2020!

There's going to be a horrible conversation:eek::eek::eek::eek: at some point. I think he thinks because I stayed with him when my brother was over last year everything is hunky dory and I can stay with him / he can stay with me no problem. The point will need to be made (more tactfully than this) that I came back from that visit about ready to kill someone I was SO ANGRY. At Christmas he engaged me in a 'conversation' about how hard done to Ched Evans is (I suspect in the correct belief I wouldn't necessarily see this one the same way as him!)

I don't see the point in doing things that I know are triggers for another bout of depression. Spending lots of time with people who are simply interested in expressing their view, arguing with other people's views and expecting other people to humour them is likely to result in me having to suppress my anger (depress it if you will) or punch someone.

I wonder how I phrase this tactfully.

Look dad, we both know we wind each other up so while it's kind of you to offer I don't think you coming to stay would be a good idea. Must dash, I'll try and pop in next time I'm up, bye....

So how is the money saving going?
Well SLOOOOOW and steady on the paying off of the debts!:(

    CDL £10,000 = £4,888 - 213 = £4675
    MBNA £ 3,450 = £2,902 - 29 = £2,873

    So in total = [STRIKE]£7,932[/STRIKE] £7,548

Has been a VERYspendy month. Every bill seems to be in duplicate, if not triplicate; Council tax, water rates, tv licence and in addition I have flights to and from the states for my neices wedding and concert tickets for Supertramp and as of today Patti Smith.

Something HAD to give, and that appears to be Cuba. In the space of me waiting.....very sensibly......to have the money to pay for the flight to Cuba in my bank account the price has gone up from £450 to £1000:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

So I'm guessing Cuba isn't happening at Christmas, although a friend has told me today the price might come down again. :rotfl: Lets not hold our breath. I am realistic enough to realise there are a LOT of Cubans in the USA and they may want to go home for Christmas. I will look at April 2016 - I think that's far enough in advance!

I need to check with middle brother and with my mum's cousin in New York to see what they are doing, and particularly if she will be around at Christmas and wants to see me. If not I may fly to Iceland for a week. Thoughts?

Ahead is a quiet week while I paint the front lounge wall and the back kitchen wall in Antique White. We are getting there....eventually.
Still have a lot of boxes :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That's some hike in price for the flight!!!! What a shame!

But great news on being sensible - you debt is going down too which isn't bad considering you have just bought a house! Well done!

Just chatted to one of the neighbours about decorating and she has asked whether I am decorating the feature wall.
Clearly a favourite with them too! :rotfl:

Boiler is having issues. Hoping someone is going to come out and have a look at it later. Doesn't seem to be holding its pressure steady!

On good news I have put £200 towards the MBNA and have set up a 19.5% overpayment on the mortgage each month.

Going to Milan on Thursday. :j:j:j
