It appears he had his appendix removed fairly recently (neither me nor my brother knew).
Last week he had continual hiccups. On Saturday he had problems breathing and went into hospital. Turns out he had adhesions relating to the appendectomy blocking his small intestine, hence the hiccups!

What a strange thing to keep a secret...

You would have thought that would have been miles away from anything hiccuping. Just goes to show.

How did you find out he was in hospital? Did he actually ring you?

My brother texted me. He lives closer and is very like my mum in character. Me and my eldest brother respond much more to having our buttons pressed which is not a good trait when dealing with my dad!

Nope, not good at all. I would have thought growing up with a button presser would mean you'd become inured to it. But, on the bright side, you're out of that now.

And you can go and visit him in hospital and say "What did I tell you!? I warned you Viagra had side effects!" In a loud voice of course. And then he won't really expect you to visit any more... :rotfl:

Well no Z. Visited him today and he looked like he'd been through it (So had I when I paid for the parking :eek:)

I thought he was delirious. He said to the physio 'This is my daughter. She's very good but she hides it well'.
See.....that ALMOST made it to a compliment.
Then ruined it by referring to his lady friend as 'Useless' several times. I'm thinking 'I hope he didn't say that to her' and being pretty certain he will have done. That man is an expert at alienating people.

They did have him standing up that morning though which is good.

Have to go and tell the bank I am going to Germany....my timing's not great on that one......and then get back down south, well the Midlands.

Just noticed the place I'm staying in Berlin takes payment in cash
Oh well back off to Tesco to get some euro's.

In good news I have paid £1k off the MBNA card. In not so good news the bank are not moving on the requirement to clear the HSBC card.

I currently have £2100 for fees (estimate around £500, conveyancing which will be £1100 or a grand , survey £500). It's tight!

My brain is shorting out due to stress, lack of sleep and the bank. I don't think things are as bad as I thought they were.

The HSBC card is cleared and to be closed on Tuesday.
The Halifax and M&S ones plod along.
The costs pot stays at £2100.

I don't think I need to panic (can someone check my maths!)

MBNA balance of £1k attracts an APR of 2.25 or 35%.
If I did nothing this would meet the current balance would add 35% interest, £350 a year and 350/12 per month which is £29.16 a month. Not great but not tragic.

Yes, a captive market, so squeeze until the pips squeak...

He was complimenting your hiding abilities...

Well he's not exactly Mr Efficiency right now, but undoubtedly that will have passed him by...

    Squeakily so.

That assumes you just pay off interest every month. If you pay more, that will go down.

But it's £22.50 a month as it compounds.
