Glad it went well! I was kind of serious about the martinis. If they're out there during your next viewing, I would probably take over a pitcher of Pimm's or mojitos. Smiles all round, and it'll look more "al fresco apertif" than "tinnies in the car park." Then again, I am a Yank expat and it's kind of the norm to hang out in your front garden where I'm from and neighbours don't think it's weird when you bring them refreshments.

My "assumption" is exactly where you started this yourself, so you shouldn't really be that surprised that this is how you come across ...

TUT TUT James if you spent more time reading the posts and less time gossiping with your neighbours you'd have seen that was me who said that.

I love my neighbours who live in my row we are all very close and look out for each others home when we go away, Our children are friends and I look after the older neighbours on their birthdays with cakes and pressies. Just because I dont like how one family acts does not make me a bad person.

Oh good Idea :-) as I said before they are nice but arent the sort to cross so I'd never say anything to them It;s more of a frustration I will have to bear the brunt of.

I think after I've sold this place I will need a jug of Pimms mysef :p With a straw on the porch :rotfl:

Sound like a large jug of the stuff right now would be an excellent idea. tbh. I might just join you. Now where did I put those tinnies? :D

    Cheers

In this heat (29.5c, just check Eeek ) I think I could do with a jug of something I'm melting here. Do you think a melted previous owner stuck to the carpet would put the buyers off? :-p

    Good luck mummybaker.

I don't agree with the negative comments either.

I lived in a road with nice neighbours who all kept their properties looking ok. Then one person rented out their home to a family who managed to turn the place into a bit of a slum quite quickly. And this is what you see when you look at Google view (so I don't rely on what an area looks like on the screen).

The OP's comment was that they have a beer in their front garden and quite a few posters have jumped to the conclusion that they're the neighbours from hell.

The OP hasn't mentioned excessive noise or anti-social behaviour, or even that they were the casue of the sale falling through, they were simply having a beer in their own garden, which may be the only garden or where they can catch the evening sun.

It appears that Hyacinth Bucket isn't entirely fictional.

I wasn't assuming they are neighbours from hell.

People can be "ok" and still cause problems for their neighbours wanting to sell. EG - stone cladding/inappropriate D/G windows in a Victorian house etc etc.

It's not a question of sitting behind high walls/hedges and not wanting to get to know your neighbours (or of being Hyacinth Bucket).

Sorry to barge in, but I think you'll find that it wasn't Daisy70 that originally posted that comment, nor is she the OP - who was the originator of the above quoted observation :p

Good luck to the OP (mummybaker)

    Thank you for the correction.

I'm less of a snob that you are rude. I look after my home, I work hard to pay my mortgage and selling my home is something which means something to me if you dont want to help or support take your comments elsewhere. Theres no need to be rude.[/Qmistake

I am so sorry. I thought this was an open forum you see, where anyone could post. I didn't realise that in posting you only expected responses that were what you wanted to hear.
    My mistake.
