I agree. I opened an account with Santander at Christmas. Came to Christmas Eve and used my card in the cash machine and it retained it. Spoke to them on the phone and I had a dodgy payment go into the ac!!!!. I said I've had the account a week and my wage has just gone in which was clearly showing the name of the company I work for, and its under the employment section of the application I made when opening the account. They just blocked the account and to this day I haven't had my wages for November 2011.

wow i knew santander wasn't loved on this forum but i can only go by my own experience. I opened my current account last october and haven't had a single problem with them. i have another current account with natwest as a back up and leave a certain amount of cash in it in case i do get any problems with santander. Infact santander have just increased my overdraft i do sometimes go into but not for long and its free so i can't really complain. Online access is excellent and i use both the ipad and iphone access all the time without any problems. so a thumbs up from me for santander:T0

A bad workmen blames his tools, the financially incapable blame their bank.
I've had a bills account with Santander for about 5 years now, no problems and internet banking very good, plus in our town centre there are 2 branches to choose from.
Go figure
read my post, how is it my fault?Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
I originally had an account with Abbey National when I was 7 years old, I have been with them through the change from building society to bank and then when they became part of Santander.
They are fantastic and always have been, they listen when you have problems and they go out of their way to help solve them with you, I have even had them wipe over £600 of arrears off in the past, they are the only bank who I have not had problems with and who I feel have treated me like a person. I love Santander and am very proud to bank with them. :T0 -
Not very recently I had a current account with Santander (it was A&L before and was fine), I closed it quickly once Santander took over. The main reasons at the time were no faster payments and dredful customer service.0

I dont even have an account with santander and i know how bad they are. They chased me for a debt which wasnt mine for 9 months and i got compensation in the end but wasnt worth the 9 months of hassle.
Basically someone did a DD reversal and they tried to claim the money of me. Dont even know to this day how i got linked to this other account0 -
I am also inclined to agree. I hate Santander and hope they go bust!
I hate everything, the logo looks like a piece of poo with steam coming off it!
I hate there online banking and stupid driven to do better slogan. Driven to p1ss me off more like it!
I hate that they have a branch on every single road in every single street in a city centre ... 1 or 2 per city is enough!!
I hate the massive enormous pads they have in branch it takes up all the counter.
I hate that the staff sit so far back behind the counter there should be a different time zone between us!
I hate the attitude of call centre staff.
If it had an ignore button I would use it!
They do have an "Ignore button"... It's called not having an account with them...
Though I do find it amusing that people constantly throw strops about how they are irrefutably terrible and how everyone should stay away - yet they have 25 million customers! Have a hissy fit all you want, but they are clearly perfectly satisfactory for the majority of their customers...0 -
Why don't you just open a second account with Barclays? No need to mess around with 2 lots of internet banking then! I have 3 current accounts and 3 savings accounts with Barclays for various bills and savings pots.I currently bank with barclays and am happy with them, i just want to open another bank account for my bills eg mobile, sky etc.
p.s I have nothing against Santander and have had accounts with them.0
