Medions are brill we have 3 in the family. The warrenty thing is great, we have used it several times even after 2.5 years.
As far as I know the 3 year warrenty only applies to desktop models, laptops are a year. Please confirm this if you are purchasing. I would definitely buy another one.

Using the warranty several times in a few years doesn't sound brill to me. What was it for? I'd prefer a computer to work and last.

I mostly use my work laptop, but I've a got a 8 year old pc that still works fine and has never had a problem.

It is worth noting that customers in Denmark that have already purchased this computer are reporting severe problems with it at the unofficial Medion Support site, here in the UK.

    Got a link?
  • Never mind; found it myself....

maybe you should have said "It is worth noting that two customers in Denmark that have already purchased this computer are reporting severe problems".

That's not counting the guy who 'upgraded' it before he even switched it on......

Last December, when the previous Aldi I.T. offers were open I bought the Medion 8818 desktop. Now I am tempting fate but I have had no problems at all with the PC and I would have no doubt in recommending the PC to anyone.
Yesterday I bought the 19" TFT screen and the 320 Gig removable hard drive. I am more than pleased with the screen and the hard drive just slots directly into the top of the PC.....no cables trailing everywhere.

This one is quite expensive compared to the other one though last december isnt it. What does this one have better than the one in december had? I bet they have sold out at my Aldi now anyway. Is the memory attached to the motherboard on this one like some people mentiomned before or something like that so it slows things down?
    Thanx

Don't worry Lady_K, unless you were queuing up waiting for Aldi to open on Thursday, you never have a chance of getting one.

Re the reliability - I am on my third Medion over many years, and they have been passed to my son and sold on to friends as I upgrade, and all still work brilliantly to their spec.

I don't think the prices are as good as they once were, but still very good value for what they have in them and their reliability. As for upgrades I've added hard drives, USB ports, etc to mine no probs.

The PC was the same price as it was last December. The only changes I could see were that some Photo editing software was included in the bundle and, as you'd expect, Windows Vista is the operating system (although you were given the option to obtain Vista last December by just paying an administration cost).

Our local Aldi had 12 PCs last Thursday which were snapped up in the first 10 minutes of opening.
