  • Oh yay!! I have my fingers crossed for you... we were "all ready for exchange" last Friday morning and the solicitor was going to tranfer funds, etc... but we still haven't exchanged!!

I hope you don't have to pay rent into October, especially if the delay is coming from elsewhere in the chain...

We have basically been ready for 2 weeks. It's the middle of the chain that has been the delay. And we're having to take their word that it's the seller at top of chain of 3 who is being waited upon for authority. Call me a cynic....

Finally, authority to exchange has been requested and hoping vendor's sol will release contract in next half hour.
    How are you doing girl_withno_name?
  • Congrats!! We were in this position last week and exchange still didn't happen, so hopefully it's more successful for you...

We're now looking at exchange this week and completion w/c 27th August, but still noone seems to get the point that we can't afford the ~2 months overlap in rent/mortgage that this would entail and that it'll have to be paid from elsewhere in the chain if they want August completion!

Send some celebrations and woops when you've got confirmation that you've exchanged :-)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP! We just exchanged and I have just done buildings insurance. Completion a week today (OH needs to send the last bit of money over for that still)
We are pondering keeping this house til October as we can afford to and don't really want to sleep with paint fumes if we don't have to plus would like to avoid living in a house with no bathroom if we do manage to get that sorted quickly, plus we don't have a free weekend to move before Middle of September at earliest which would be tight.
  • Congratulations Arbrighton ! If you can possibly not live in your new house while you paint etc you will find it so much easier. We have done this twice and each time it was a hundred times better than trying to work round furniture, and trying to live a normal life. Hope it goes smoothly.

That's kind of what we're thinking, plus then we only have to move each piece of furniture once!
  • I'm so happy for you!! And glad that you finally exchanged... am sure you'll have loads of fun planning your decorating for the new house :D
