  • We were already in the process of getting quotes and our removals have now been booked - although we've made clear that we might need to change to date as we haven't yet exchanged and so completion may not happen when we hope!

We should (fingers crossed) be exchanging tomorrow... we might even get a response from our solicitor at some point! :p

[STRIKE]Question if anyone can help please! :o

We purchased the necessary buildings (and contents) insurance online earlier today and forwarded the details we have to the solicitor. They're now asking for the
buildings insurance schedule - can anyone tell me what this is and what information it contains please?[/STRIKE]

Never mind - they were requesting something I'd already sent!

We are apparently looking to exchange tomorrow too. Still waiting for things from their end to be sent over though :(

Fingers crossed for you!! Our vendors have posted their contract back today, so exchange now lies (partly at least) in the hands of the Royal Mail

  • Well we're not moving tomorrow, we haven't even exchanged contracts yet!!

The latest hold up is that the people at the top of the chain (no longer living in the property at the top of the chain) have furniture in storage which apparently has to be delivered back to their 'old' house and then moved by a different firm to their 'new' house...

This sounds like madness, surely they can arrange for the furniture to be delivered by the second firm straight from storage to their 'new' house??

  • Well looks like completion isn't happening until October for us then!

After 5 days of our solicitor not being able to get hold of theirs to try to clarify completion date, just spoke to vendors. They had firmly told him to pull his finger out.
They are going to ring him again tomorrow so hopefully we can get exchanged and go for completion on 23rd as that is best for our vendor and their vendor.

Have you double checked that your mortgage offer won't expire before then?
  • I hadn't, but it looks like it doesn't expire until 30th November

And after ANOTHER week of prevarication on the part of the vendors' sols, the EAs have started badgering. Our sellers have instructed their sol to exchange but we are now waiting on the sellers' sellers instructing their sol to exchange too. Completion agreed for next thursday. But not counting chickens yet.......
And if exchange happens this week, we'll not have to pay rent into October.
