As youve already been told, your rights are with the retailer.
I have a two year manufacturer's warranty.0 -

I've sent another email to Morphy Richards customer 'service' so I'll update you all on progress ...0

If it's less than a year old just go back to the retailer, it is up to them to deal with it not the manufacturer.
I've never had a kettle last less than five years and I never clean them, but I'm in a very soft water area.
After 6 months the retailer can insist you prove the cause is that of an inherent fault.0 -
It would seem to me that a kettle which can deteriorate in such a short amount of time is not fit for purpose - it shouldn't come as a shock to Morphy Richards that some of its kettle components might come into contact with water and should be made in such a way that they can tolerate this happening without serious deterioration after a relatively short amount of time.0

I'm glad to see this thread, our Morphy Richards kettle is just over a year old and it has started to leak where the spout joins the main body of the kettle. I'm sick of getting a counter full of water every time we make a cup of tea!
I'm sure I've still got the receipt in the box, I may gear myself up for a trip to Argos tomorrow. I'm pretty sure that it has a 2 year guarantee too."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
My MIL has the same kettle and it leaks and the paint is chipping off. She has had it slightly over a year. Didn't think about it until I read the other threads. Obviously MR have a design flaw with this kettle.0

I've had an email from them and they are blaming me for not descaling it - even though I have been descaling it (despite the fact that their warranty gives no guidance as to how often - every day, every month ...?). Also, they have made this judgement without physically looking at the kettle, which is quite remarkable.
A kettle which doesn't react well to constant use with tap water over a year would seem a bit pointless.
Also - they offered me a replacement kettle direct from them for more than it costs in the shops! How does that work??? Are they manufacturing it at a higher cost than the retailers' selling price???0
