    milk
    6 bananas
    value grapes
    value brown bread
    15 value eggs
    800g value beef

    tinned sweetcorn

    value fake philly
    2 loose tomatoes

all the above comes to £13.92 on tesco

you can make porridge and banana
tom and philly sandwichs (these are yummy also nice of crackers or with cucumber)
    french toast or omlettes
split mince in half and make sheperds pie with one half and a chilli/spag bol with the other using the passata and half tinned sweetcorn and some grated carrot serve with baked taties or rice.
creamy pasta using the philly and sweetcorn
carrots and lentil soup, yummy and filling
make rice pudding using the milk and syrup from the pineapple to sweeten and eat with the pineapple for a nice cheap filling pudding that even has abit of fruit :)
grapes are just to munch on and can be added to porridge or swapped out for some oranges or apples.

You are all so amazing - I can tweak ( I use Mr S basics sweet and sour as cannot make it for that price) but to write the menu is beyond me.

What I am going to do is cost everything I eat for the next week or so (full price and price of my portion) and see how it goes and see if I can work out a menu but just looking at sites am no good.

Just to get this in perspective x what this is based on how much could I be looking at spend wise for 5 people for a month?

Sat on Sainsburys site working out my August shop, got it to £121 inc cat food (24 tins) and a huge bag of biscuits for them, plus some cleaning products.

If i pull even this off im amazed.

i can get enough food to feed us all for £86 on tesco (theres 5 of us) and that even includes some biccys and crisps, plus a 5kg box of chicken breasts at £20 so £106, the problem is if you have more money than that you will spend it if you go into a shop and you will have to go into a shop at some point for fresh fruit and veg, milk and bread. If you acually only have £121 then your more likely to stick to it, maybe take £125 in cash out and leave your bankcard at home that allows you a little bit extra.

know that one well, hence my thinking of an online shop :) I should also admit that £12 of my shop is Pepsi max (I am trying hard to cut that down) £16.49 is the cats food and around £12 is loo roll, washing powder and so forth (all basics)

    In my 'basket'
I have put 16 pints Cravendale milk (I know it lasts)
9 cartons of apple and orange juice (for the kids)
    rolls and pitta breads galore
    the veg is all frozen
apples and bananas are fresh (I may need to top these up in month)
    5 packets of cereal

The majority of the basket is basics (but that doesnt bother me)
I plan to stretch the meat, 2 chickens should do 3 meals plus soup with noodles/frozen veg, 2 pkts of mince should do 6 meals bulked with lentils/oats/grated carrots
a massive 7.5 kg of potato's will last a month in my house, I am just thinking I should add some sort of cheese.

i find apples and bananas keep well, what about a 3 weekly shop then?

if i bought 9 cartons of fresh fruit juice they'd be gone in the week (saying the i usually buy 4 anyway and there gone in 2-3 days)

not sure about sainburys but tesco has pepsi on bogof, and even better fanta and sprite are bogof aswell but only £1.26 *just remebers she has a nice cold bottle of fanta in the fidge and runs off to get some*

good luck keep us updated, maybe you could start your own thread? and let us know what your eating and if you've had anymore spends i for one would be very interested in that.

oh i nearly forgot if you do a tesco shop head over to the voucher board theres a £1 off £3 spend on spuds and a £1.50 off £6 spend on cheese and they ahve a few 400g blocks around £2-£2.50
