I might attempt a 7 day mealplan later, but I just thought I'd add this in now while it's fresh in my mind (because we had the meatballs tonight!). I get the cheapest beef mince (about 300g mince per pack of stuffing), then mix it with a pack of homebrand sage and onion stuffing and enough water to make it for a moist mix. From this you can make meatballs (just form balls and grill them), burgers (again grilled), meatloaf (formed into a loaf shape and baked in the oven), sausages (rolled into a sausage shaped and grilled or baked).
I serve them sometimes with potatoes and veg, sometimes with salad, sometimes with rice and veg.Softstuff- Officially better than 0071 -

I actually thought your meal plan wa good for your soup idea, maybe you could post it in a recipe format?
Saying that no-one on a low budget will be happy eating the same 3 meals for 7 days and as your costing it rather than doing pack sizes and carrying it over it would be the same thing for several week, If you think that's acceptable try it for a few days (allow yourself some milk and fruit after all if your not on a tight budget health does come first) you will soon be very bored, there's nothing worse than having no money and feeling like your really missing out which you could on your meal plan.
I think I know why your so confused about prices, the actual thread was feed 2 for £7 however later on we started posting recipes and costing meals, if you go back to the start any meal plans posted included full packets.
People boil there pasta in salt? Why? I've never done it and I don't boil anything else in salt either, I add allitle to roasts and that's it, I never bought salt before I got married, hubby likes it on his dinner, but we've nevere finished a whole tub it gets damp or hubby decided he needs a new one before we can, at 30p I'm happy to replace it.DEC GC £463.67/£450

I have to say, i'm not in such a dire strait right now that I need to live on £7 per week like op, but i've found this thread really useful too. :T Althought im not following the exact meal plan/budget set out, i've taken onboard quite a few ideas and trying to cut my shopping bill down a bit for next month or so I can save a bit. :cool:1

Please can we go back to ignoring posts that we do not like rather than allowing ourselves to react to them.
Previously on the OS board, if someone saw a post they didn't like or disagreed with or thought the poster was trying to provoke, rather than get confrontational, they ignored it. (not always, obviously, but it seems a better solution than getting stressed)1 -
I quite liked ~chameleon~ 's mealplan altho I would eat my banana and omelette separately!
The soup sounds lovely and I could eat spaghetti with butter and black pepper with cheese several times a week as I love it.
However, I would not want to eat all those things every day for a week as I would be very bored - however, if I absolutely had to, I would have to manage.
I may try to have a go at doing a 7 day mealplan myself0 -

Hi everyone i have been bigtime AWOL, but have been lurking on this thread, wow there are some amazing posts and thanks to the person who posted the link to the site run by MSE forum posters, its fantastic. Might i add this link from another mse forum for further ingredient meal suggestions, not that i think its needed, i think to fill up up, value batter can be an option at 7p, to make pancakes or yorkshires. Have a nice day everyone. Here is the link https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/326929
p.s. softstuff, love the meatball suggestion, i have tons of ainsley harriet stuffing cous cous, wonder if it would work with that.1 -
I still can't figure out that batter mix surely if you have to add egg ect it's just flour and salt, don't get me wrong if you only a £7 then a packet at 7p is great but surely long term a bag of flour is better and more versatile?
Now it sounds like I'm nitpicking lol sorry.DEC GC £463.67/£450

no your not nit picking, i haven't used it for a while and thought you just added water, so it would work out more pricey and making £7 last, every penny counts.1

I have done this too Softstuff, you can also substitute sausagemeat or minced chicken or turkey for the mince1
