Anyone Else Selling In St Helens, Merseyside

I put my house on the market in January. It is in a good area with good schools in close proximity, ideal for first time buyer, in good nick. I had one viewer with the first estate agent. It was up with them for 2 months and only had the one viewer despite dropping the price by 5K which i was reluctant to do. My opinion was that they over valued it to start with. Anyway, i wasnt happy with the estate agent so i have now changed to another and it went up 2 weeks ago for 10K less than it was valued at originally - however i think this is a more realistic price. I have had no viewers so far. is anyone else in this area having the same problems? is there a lull in the market at the moment - i keep holding out for the 'easter rush' but scared its not going to happen. i thought it was going to be a doddle selling my house and that i would have been inundated with viewers/offers. Where are all the FTBs??????

  • Hi there

I am selling my house in Liverpool in the first time price bracket and have not had any viewings in nearly 2 months.

I think all the ftb's cannot afford to buy round here at the moment.

we're FTBs just been looking in St Helens recently (jan), but we've had an offer accepted in feb on a house in Dentons Green area, we're just waiting for all the associated shenanigans to finish.
  • The property market seems to be very slow in St Helens, theres a house for sale in my parent's street and its been on the market for 12 months and nothing, however i personally think its been overpriced. I'm actually looking for somewhere in the St Helens/Warrington area but haven't found anything i like yet!

Which Estate Agents are you with? One of the houses I looked at I was put off with the attitude of the estate agent so its put me off looking at anymore properties advertised with them!

I'm in same area as Snowman and things are very slow. Not much seems to be selling at all.

I livein Newton-le-Willows and I think houses are selling however prices havent increased in nearly 2 years as opposed to other counties Im looking at buying in. Our house sale goes through on Friday(fingers crossed) and houses we want to buy are shooting up in value before we even get to view...

  • I bought a house in St Helens almost a year ago, and have kept my eye on prices/for sale boards ever since. There doesn't seem to be much movement at the mo, i'd agree with that. The reason why though, is a mystery. St H is a good town, lots of amenities, road links, decent schools.
Greenfield Road is a nice area, a little busy perhaps?

I'm just round the corner by Rivington Primary School, quiet area, one house for sale on corner been up almost a year. Two others this year snapped up straight away.
