From around the corner you cannot see that the lights are red. It was clear when I moved off. When I turned the next set of lights turned red. I am fully aware of the perils of stopping a yellow box. I am usually very careful. But you cannot stop sometthing you are not aware of! If I thought I was in the wrong I would not be wasting my time and yours in asking for advice.

:) Go to pepipoo and fight it then, I would:

Have a read of some YBJ cases on there first though and Google 'moneyboxjunction' and 'logic law steve' and read the results. You need to understand that the contravention is not just the fact you stopped (you are NOT bang to rights and it's not a criminal matter nor one that will cause you any more costs than possibly being told to pay the actual full penalty in the event that you lose at adjudication!). Please have a loook at those two sites first.

Then search pepipoo and read some threads. Most people do win who post on pepipoo although YBJ cases are a bit harder to fight because some adjudicators seem to have such different opinions on it. And there's less to appeal on in many cases, than a nice parking ticket!

You will learn about that when you read some threads, just go back a few pages on pepipoo looking for any thread titles about box junctions (any). Or search using the box in the bottom left hand corner on there, for the word 'junction' (don't use 'yellow' or you will get all the double/single yellow line cases as your search result as well!!).

Once you have read up on the contravention and know what to look for, then quickly post up a new topic with pics of your PCN as per all the other threads on there. And watch the video (do NOT rely on the Council's carefully-selected stills because you need to view the moving pics at the point of entry - not just at the point of stopping).

You can only stop in a box junction if you are turning right and are prevented from doing so by the oncoming traffic.

However, surely if the box junction is hidden and the new traffic lights basically dump you onto it and leave you stranded, then (a) they need changing, (b) there must be many other drivers in the same boat, and (c) any penalties would need to be reviewed in light of the above.

Here's your pepipoo thread for others to follow when you get a rejection!

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=72010

You probably will get a rejection and will need to appeal to PATAS; your chances are good and you only risk being told to pay the penalty (not the discount) if you end up losing. No costs, no risk, as long as you meet all deadlines.

    Here's a case a bit like yours I think:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=71528

Only he's further along with the process and has got his first rejection already. Please don't be surprised when you get yours - it does NOT mean you haven't got a case.

Good news. I followed the helpful advice I received from this forum and Peepipoo. Went to PATAS on Wednesday and won.

Well done! I saw your post on pepipoo, so glad that common sense prevailed...but will the Council sort this out for the future?

You could always send a copy to the local paper to publicise it and try to force some action to right this wrong, if people are being caught out every day.
