There are less than 1 million homeless people in the UK, they could have one property each and all the extra Olypic property supply will still be empty when everyone goes home after the games.
If £11 billion had been spent building houses then you might have a point, but even then that would not really be much of a game changer - would probably amount to 100,000 new homes at the very most, and over an eight year period that ain't much.
As it is the Olympic legacy from the £9 billion cost of the olympics is about 3,000 new homes (though more will be built on the same site in the future by developers).
Don't know why I bother as you're clearly trolling anyway.0 -
Much of that £11billion was spent on property, commercial and residential.
Great for when all these people fly to London for the games, not so great for when London depopulates.
London depopulates by all those who came to London for something to do with the Olympics, yes.
The Olympics have been a boost to London but thousands of properties were built to house everyone who came to our shores for the games.
When they all go home these properties will be empty and looking for demand. Trouble is all this supply added to the market just when all the extra demand is flying away from the UK.
Who is going to want to buy these thousands of properties there is nothing going for them when the games are over?
Prices will go down and down until some snaps them up, then they will regret it yrs down the lines finding they cant sell them either.House Prices 2007/08 £200K, Silver £5oz
Ratio 40,000 oz to 1 house.
2012 Fallen to £160K, Silver risen to £20 per ounce. So house/silver ratio fallen to 8000.
Prediction for the end of the decade, will keep falling at current rate until 1000 oz or less valued same as average house.0 -

London after Olympics / London before Olympics ...
I have no interest whatsoever - yawn !
Just one big waste of money ....
Who cares what you think? And why even bother to post a negative?
Don't you have anything better to do with your time, given that you are not interested in the Olympics?0 -

Considering people are renting out sheds and families are living in a room in one of the 4 Olympic boroughs and that borough is going to implement a licensing scheme to stamp them out, I don't think BTL residential investors will have a problem buying the properties and renting them out.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Good question, what's the answer? Apparently there are 14,000 athletes and if each of these has on average 100 organisers, supporters and hangers on, that suggests that accomodation for between 1 and 2 million people will be freed up over the next 6 months.
A slight case of hoperbole but yes you are on the right lines. But the perma propbulls wont have it that there are over a million empty properties in the UK before all these new properties are left empty after everyone flies off after the games.PS Buy silver.

Stratford is still going to be massive bottom exhaust after the Olympics.
It was an old nuclear test site as well. I would not want to live there for that reason alone.
Be interesting to watch what all these empty properties sell for, if they can find buyers. Then a few years down the line how much they are worth and how much they have fallen in value. The thing about chaos is, it's fair.0
