Sold a few things on eBay but never had a cheque before, got one the other day and have cashed it, I will post the item once it clears, but what is the comback? If any? Can the refunds be clawed back? Or the cheque bounce at a later date?
Just worried about it being a scam of some sort.

You should have done what I used to do and state in your listings that you don't accept cheques. I only ever used Buy It Now with immediate payment via PayPal (where I immediately moved the money out so as to stop any chargeback).
I have read of too many occasions where items have been sent only for problems to occur later on.
That isn't saying your buyer is dodgy - I just went the way I felt ruled out any possibility of being done over by anyone.0 -
Ref. the cheque.
I've always given the option of paying by cheque - some people simply don't trust PayPal and what's more, you've no fees so you're already up on the deal. Simply explain in your listings that you will not despatch the item before the cheque clears - this will normally take 3-5 working days (allow 5 to be safe) and no, once it's fully cleared it can't be clawed back at all. This is standard practice on eBay and regular buyers will know the score and they'll know that they'll be waiting about a week for the goods AFTER you have RECEIVED their cheque.Quarter of a century of unsurpassed supremacy0 -
Make sure you wait until it has cleared and then post.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

I always accept cheques unless I want to sell something quickly and I do what daveboy does - immediate payment required.
I sell alot of wristbands and the number of cheques I have received for them has been amazing! Some of the cheques are for only £6 or so too! When the cheques are this low I just bank them all at once and send the products off the same day, it is unlikely they are all going to bounce after all!! However, with bigger purchases (anything over £25 mark) I will wait until they are cleared.
I tell you what the most annoying type of payment is...a mix between Paypal and a cheque...an E-CHEQUE!! They seem to take forever and a day to clear! I get so mad when I receive one. Anyone else ever got one?

Cheques can be reversed once they are cleared for funds. Look at some of my other postings I had one reversed after 6 weeks, and more recently after 9 days when the cheque had cleared for funds after day 3. It's rare but it can happen.
