hi
i was going to post 2 questions but thought i would merge them.
does anyone have any advice for me.
background, I claim JSA (Income based) and HB for (1 bed rate) for a bedsit. I have no savings.
2questions
1. I have been on JSA for 3 years. When i made my claim i was living at home with my mum. They would not let me claim hb for rent as i was living with my family, so i moved out and claimed it for myself.
my mum has now got the dla benefit. can i claim jsa and claim her carers allowance. or can my brother? he claims jsa too
2 i have a girlfriend i see. she is on is and lives in a new built house. as its so big i often stay over. is there a rule about how much i can stay. is it 3 nights. i dont contribute anything to the house as the kids arnt mine.
thanks

Question 1 - no idea but it also depends on her needs.
Question 2
If your girlfirend is on benefits, yes it certainly can affect them, no set rule to number of nights you can stay, there are lots of other factors involved.
Are you and your brothr job seeking.
I find it hard to understand that you actually moved out of your mums just so you could claim housing benefit. It would still have been cheaper living at home surely.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
hi they would not let me claim any money for rent at home so i cant stay there rent free so had to leave.
my mum gets dla and her nurse has said she can pay for a carer, me or my brother will claim and share it i hope,,,0 -
and yes we are job seeking we claim jsa0

You would be expected to pay some rent to your mum out of your JSA, that's what it's for, living expenses. Even if you had given your mum £20 a week, it would still have left you with more 'pocket money' a week than I ever see.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Not sure but you have to care for 35 hourse a week, you couldnt do that and be job seeking full time, so they would probably stop your JSA.
You really need to ring the DWP for clarification.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

i dont know about you but jsa barely covers living expenses like mobile, leccy and gas! and anyway its nice to have your own crash pad.0

i dont want to ring the jobbie centre until i know facts in case they stop my money, hence here, but thanks for help0

Only one of you can claim carers allowance you or your brother for the care for your mother. What benefit is your brother on or does he work?
You need to really watch how much you stay at your GF house, it could bring a load of problems down on her, with the HB and what benefit she is on.
Care allowance if you do put a claim in for CA your JA will stop and you need to put in a claim for IS.0 -
thanks redme
my brother is on jsa too.
can i claim IS for my mum and carers, does that mean i wont have to sign on0 -
Is this a wind up?0
