PLEASE tell me you made a note of the DVD player's serial number??

Always tale pictures of serial numbers before sending and of condition of the items. That way if anyone claims "it's not as described" or "broken" just ask them to return the item "serial number xyz" in the condition it was sent so you can verify the item is the same one. There are a worrying amount of people abusing the Ebay system these days *tut* and you are sure they can appreciate that you wil need to check the item is the same one and in original (matching your pics) condition when they are returned to you etc.

My bet is you'll never hear from them again...

Clearly a scam, as no-one in their right mind would list a pick up only item if it was broken, would they?

Ideal answer, cut and paste this, send it to her and do not respond to further unpleasant emails, if they open a dispute they will have to return the item. You could add to the above that you have photographs and a record of the serial number to ensure that the original item is returned.
