You can get multipacks of stamps at Costco for below the face value.

Only if you can join... this is from their website...

Costco is an exclusive wholesale cash and carry membership warehouse club and is not open to the general public. Membership is required. You are eligible for trade membership if you are a bonafide business owner/manager who can provide evidence of trading. Follow our Trade membership tab above for further details.

Are Europe stamps going up in price as well? Just asking because when I sent OH to stock up on stamps just now he bought a sixpack of them as well, only that they do not say E on them just 44p. Should he have them exchanged for the E stamps?

Searching for a difinitive answer I contacted W.H.Smiths.
They DO NOT ACCEPT points against postage stamp purcgases.

Wow! Guess i was pretty lucky then!!
  • WH Smith took the voucher for my purchase of stamps!! In my local branch their view is that if the scanner says "yes" you can have the points.
  • I bought stamps and used the voucher. The till person had to be persuaded to try scanning it. She said it wasn't valid on stamps but I pointed out it did not state anywhere that stamps were excluded.

THANK YOU for this: I almost missed it! Will be off to CostCo in the morning to stock up on first class stamps (the only kind they sell) for work, and have ordered 2nd class ones from the Royal Mail website - where the price rise seems not to be mentioned at all!
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • Do you get club card points at Tescos for buying stamps? And although you can't use the WHSmiths voucher do you still recieve the normal ammount of points there for buying stamps? What about Boots advantage points and Nectar points at Sainsburys? Just looking for a good points to stamps deal!

    Cheers

I got my stamps yesterday from WHS. The voucher did not scan but the lady put the points on manually.

    Lucky break !

The voucher worked in the Basildon branch today - I bought a newspaper, magazine and 12 1st class stamps and the cashier just swiped the voucher and gave me my receipt (which showed the bonus points had been credited)
There is nothing on the voucher to say that stamps are excluded - usually, WHS vouchers specifically exclude them and lottery tickets.
So, thanks for the voucher Martin:money: , which will go towards my Christmas shopping later in the year (I usually end up buying something in there at Christmas!)

  • We as regular postal users are so gullible. Like so many, I buy and sell via eBay, who had it not been for the volume of business eBay creates for our Post office, they would have been in a far great mess than they are today?

Their method of charging recipients additional postage on letters and packets with insufficient postage should be re directed to the sender who was at fault in the first place not the party the item was posted too. The lack of publicity on this latest rise (even some staff in my local office were unaware of the new rates) is quite unbelievable and they wonder why so many still post items under the old rates.
