Concert tickets on ebay

I've been pondering for a while about ordering concert tickets e.g. U2, glastenbury etc and selling them on ebay for a while.

Has anybody done this and if so how much have you made?

Are there any problems in doing this?

With glastenbury tickets out soon I would of thought there is money to be made!!

(Please note I know some people may not approve of making money but please don't voice these opinions or the thread becomes off topic!!)

Okay, for one thing you won't be able to sell Glasto tickets online as they are issuing photo id tickets this year and nearly every listing for tickets gets removed.

And another thiong you need to make sure you do is to list the face value of the tickets in the auction as your competitors will do whatever they can to get your listing removed

I have only ever sold tickets when I couldn't make it having bought them....(some sold for more and some for less)

However, if you are going to do this you need to make sure you pick the right events that are going to sell out. If it's not sold out they will just get them from ticketmaster.

N.B I do actually disapprove of people doing this as it deprives fans of the bands the opportunity to buy tickets at a fair price!

Do a search on here as the problems of tickets has come up before.

Basically only licensed sellers of tickets can trade in them, otherwise they are prohibited items as most, if not all, carry the warning that the tickets are not transferable.

You will get away with selling them for a period of time but once a competitor or a disgruntled buyer reports you then ebay will place a warning on your account. After several warning (don't know how many) your account will be suspended.

I regularly bid on tickets (and have got some real bargains at less than face value!) but I would think at least a half to a third of the auctions i bid on get pulled before they close.

I too have sold concert tickets, again when I couldnt make the event. Although listing face value, they went at a price way above expected. Only trouble I had is that tickets only arrived in my possesion a day before expected event and it cut down the time to get them to buyer. although I managed it i vowed never to repeat experience as it could so easily have turned out differently!

this came up the other day. your listing will get pulled. Glastonbury is a definate no no this year (as someone has already said) photo id. i also know that glastonbury are employing people with the sole intention of trawling ebay and reporting the people selling their tickets, not only to ebay but also to the police.

as for other gigs there is always the small chance you are going to make money on the odd ticket but are you going to be able to get the best tickets to the best gigs? There are ticket touts on ebay already who can get the best tickets to the best gigs, if you cant then you cant compete with them.

Although the uptake on tickets isn't fantastic...I have some opera tickets on at the moment for Cavalleria Rusticana at Liverpool for next Friday eve.
My cousin bought them as a surprise present for her boyfriend for Christmas and he blew her out on Christmas Eve.....nice guy. She is left with them, and we have tried twice to sell them with no luck. They are really good seats, and we have started them low, with a buy it now price of 2/3rds the full cost and still no luck.
I think you have to have tickets for a full sell out before people will bite.
16 hours to go so keep your fingers crossed for us!!
