There's a difference between glass that breaks into pieces, and one that shatters into shards. Why don't you give it a go and come back when you've finished tidying it up.

I'm interested in the size of these. I need mine pint sized :D

    Thanks OP

    Thankyou.

I like McD's free glasses and seem to have quite a collection - which, come to think of it is a bit strange as I live in a clumsy household.

But I wonder about the wristbands - are they designed for people's wrists - or would they be a way of showing whose drink is whose. [Mine's the brandy and coke.....]
    arghhh!!!

We got one of these glasses in Belgium a couple of weeks ago in McD's. If they're the same as the UK are getting they are much thicker than the last ones and actually rather nice - ours travelled home ok ;)

I've had a few of these over the years and I really like them, none of them have broken and all have been well used!

    Thank you for the support!!

I've broken a glass or two in my time. I'm not daft and I know they are nasty things when broken. The difference with this one was that it shattered into the tiniest bits that went everywhere. This was one of the blue ones from a few years back. It's also the first one I've ever had break and yes I'm capable of drinking out of a glass and washing it without breaking them usually. I don't care if something is free or not (prefer free like) I just would rather it didn't break like this one and turn into splinters. Someone earlier said they were thicker now so that can only be a good thing. Personally I'd rather someone warn me about a possible danger than worry they'd be ridiculed for doing so.

Like I said plenty of others have had the same experience - it's not just me being clumsy/blonde/incapable of using a glass properly.

I've got loads of them going back years now. I've lost a couple of the can shaped ones which chipped on the rims but never broken any, I must've been lucky!

I think the glasses they give out are dangerous and I will not use them after cutting open the side of my hand on one.

I was washing it up and put the cloth inside to clean it out and as I twisted my hand round it cracked in half and dug right into my hand. It has actually made me weary of ever doing that to any glass again although I am probably being paranoid.

This happened to my dad when I was a child so was horrific at the time. I now use a washing up brush under constantly running hot water, where the water fills an empty sink to soak the dirty bits... If i must wipe it out ( as sometimes you have to!) i try and squeeze a blue cloth all inside and twist it from the top. Lol sounds sad but been successful so far!

this isnt just mcdonalds glasses. i did this on a regular glass i got from tesco. never twist the cloth/sponge inside the glass!

having said that we have broke older mcd's glasses quite easily like others have said but we have a high breakage rate in our house (OH is partially sighted)

I'm prob going to get shot to down this but what do you expect, ITS GLASS. Its hardly going to do a few bounces around the kitchen when you drop it.

What do you want for free. I've had loads of the glasses and yeah some have broke but oh well, it was a free glas from mcdonlads. I'm hardly going to loose sleep over it.

Sorry for the rant but everyone seems to be so negative all the time and its not needed!

BRILLIANT!! People complaining glass that breaks when dropped or knocked!!

Mine are fine, fill them up, drink out of them, wash them up, let them dry then use again..... Quite easy!!

Maybe next time, just buy the meal and don't take the glass?

These are not regular glasses, they are thick at the bottom and extremely thin at the top of the lip of the glass these do break way way to easily I have done so jsut by washing them in a plastic bowl adn it was not full at the time but a couple of glasses
