Parking Eye- Advice needed please

Hi guys, I know there are lots and lots of threads on private parking companies and I have been following all the advice given about ignoring the correspondence etc but it's now at the point where I need personal reassurance. I received a PCN in April for overstaying in a retail park by 40mins. I received the standard 3 letters, etc and the latest amount they want me to pay is now £177. I then received a letter from Roxbourghe which again, I ignored. Today I got a call on my mobile phone from Roxbourghe! Needless to say I did not engage with the person who called.

I have never called them-how do these people get hold of my mobile number?! I am shocked that this information can be so freely available to these people. I hardly give my mobile number out to anyone. Can I expect now to be harrassed by phone calls and for how long? I have the caller's mobile number so it is a good idea to post that number on this forum to warn others? Any advice would be greatly appreciated-I have never received a PCN before and it's hard not to be intimidated by these monsters! Many thanks.

  • Well done on standing up to these shysters :T

I'd love to see their number on here so that I can add it to the 'blacklisted numbers' on my phone.

When my phone receives a call from a number on its blacklist it doesn't ring or show anything on the display BUT at the callers end they still hear a ringing tone. I can check to see who's been 'ignored' by my phone later.

I'd love to think of them making many fruitless calls in the same way as they will be sending many fruitless letters.

Keep up the good work and tell as many people as possible about the scum bags currently infesting private car parks.

BTW. How did the conversation go? Just give a brief outline to prewarn other potential victims.

There's a dozen letters, give or take a few,
I'll be writing more in a week or two.
I can make it longer if you like the style,
I can use red ink and I want to be a threatogram writer,
    Threatogram writer.

If you really like it you can do the same,

It could make a million for you in this game.
If you want to pay it, you can send it here
But I need a break and I want to be a threatogram writer,

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

I'd keep them on the phone as long as possible, if they are stuck on the phone to you they arent hassling others that may fall for their threats.

When they say who they are say something along the lines of "ah excellent I've been meaning to call you, let me go find my wallet.." then just leave the phone by the TV/Radio and let them listen to some Bargain Hunt or something, or even find the clip of Watchdog on youtube and let them listen to that..

See how long they hold on for, then next time they call (and they will) come back after five minutes and say "sorry I think I've left it in the car, be back in a sec"..

    Rinse and repeat..
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
  • If I were you Id answer it once. id tell them that its illegal to harass someone about an unproven debt, that they have no contract with them and therefore owe them nothing, and if they ever phone you again you'll report them to the police for criminal harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and Administration of Justice Act 1970, and also report them for improper use of public electronic communications network as defined by The Communications Act 2003, section 127 .

I would then refer them to the reply given by the defendant in Arkell vs Pressdram 1972. (google it)

  • Thanks guys. I don't usually answer calls from unknown numbers but I was caught off guard. The man asked to speak to me and then told me he was calling from Roxbourghe. The conversation ended there.

Thanks for the advice on the Protection from Harrassment Act/Communications Act. I can't understand how these people get hold of mobile numbers- The Freedom of Information Act is one thing but what about 'The Right to Privacy Act'?

regards getting hold of your number, someone once posted that if you have renewed your car tax on line and you have inadvertently entered your phone number, then its jobs a good when the dvla prostitutes sell your number to these rogues(ppcs) as there it it for them to phone you.

Roxburgh phoned me on my home number but I was out and my wife answered.
She had no idea who they were and they never went in to any detail with her.
They asked if they could contact me on a mobile but luckily she didn't give them my mobile number.
When i arrived home she mentioned their call so I immediately retrieved their number via 1471 and saved it in my contacts.
If they call again now I will be prepared.
    Their number is 01932332038
