Did I not mention that my DD had the chocolate teapot gift wrapped in clear cellophane, the accompanying card was not the little bitty one, but A5 and the message was Printed large? and signed! DD wouldnt do it anonomously! and she hand delivered it to the reception desk? DD couldnt possibly have known she would be in a meeting and it would sit at reception for an hour or so, could she? Or that it was open day for students and parents? DD would have to have had a friend in the school to know all that wouldnt she?0

It's not about having a sense of humour (or lack of). It's about sticking up for your kids. So many people gripe about teachers/headteachers and what a crap job they do. Standing around in the playground with their petty little friends gossiping away. Of course that's not you, or anyone else on this thread (it's always someone else isn't it?)
If someone in authority is genuinely behaving in a way that they shouldn't, then they should be brought to task over it. It is about growing a pair. If something needs doing, then do it right.
I only wish I had been able to stand around gossiping in the playground but as a single (then) mum working full time that was a luxury I couldn't afford!
I did, of course, tackle every issue as and when it happened. Unfortunately her parting gift to us (and the horribleness to which I was referring) was that the first letter to arrive in our new house was not a good luck message or a card signed by the class but a letter informing me that my son could no longer go on the residential trip that she had previously agreed he could return for (as I'd paid for it and it was educational.)
My natural instinct was to put up a fight but we had left the area and I wasn't about to let her poisonous tentacles reach into our new life, even though she was trying, so I let it go.
Trust me, where my child's welfare is concerned, I have balls like space hoppers

I'd still send a letter. Copy it in to the new head and the LA. It's never too late.
If you'd been a bit earlier, you could have written an entry in her leaving book.
If you still want to post a dog turd after that, make it a sticky one."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
