Have you?
I keep meaning to do one!! When you think about it it is quite a tidy windfall for whoever if I get hit by a bus tonight!!!
Do those without dependents have life assurance?0 -

 Can I join youyet another singleton with a largish mortgage here!
My mortgage has many, many years to run(29!) - I've made one overpayment so far (£300 - which is about a month's payment) - but can't see many more happening soon.
Not had a pay rise for 3 years now & with everything else going up so much there's not really much spare! (and need to change the car - long story for maybe another time)
I so "get" what you're all saying - especially the bit about lifestyle ..... my house (with bills) takes up a lot of my salary and my friends often seem to forget that it all has to come out of one salary when most of them are splitting costs with an OH.
Lets hope we can come up with some ideas if we all stick our thinking caps on!:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

For those talking about getting a Will done you do know you get one done for free?

Have any of you gone to buy something about then put it back in favour for Overpayments instead?
I was in a shop today and was going to buy some cider at £3 then thought in reality this is costing me £8 because if I pay it off the mortgage I will save £5 in interest!
The world is expensive when you think of it like that!:rotfl:Mortgage: [STRIKE]Jan 11 - £91830 [/STRIKE][STRIKE] Jan 12 - £89'199[/STRIKE] May 14 - £69'999 Car Loan: [STRIKE]Jan 11 - £3658 [/STRIKE] July 12 - £0! Credit Card: [STRIKE] Jan 11 - £3300 Jan 12 - £2250 [/STRIKE] Oct 13 - £0

I haven't yet gotten into the mindframe of doing that but I will need to. Went shopping today and had a bit of a splurge. Shouldn't have really as most of it could have waited till pay day :mad:rising_from_the_ashes wrote: »I so "get" what you're all saying - especially the bit about lifestyle ..... my house (with bills) takes up a lot of my salary and my friends often seem to forget that it all has to come out of one salary when most of them are splitting costs with an OH.

My so called life currently revolves around going to work, to the gym and visiting my family. I go "out" about once a month if that at the moment which is why I'm probably single :rotfl:
rfta I'm looking forward to the ideas too0 -

I am will-less, and it has been something on the list for a while. I think I get 4* salary life assurance from work, which will not quite cover the outstanding balance.
It can be difficult paying for it all yourself, and none of those economies of scale apply when it's just you. I remember thinking when I bought my first property 5 years ago 'this is what I sacrificed nights out and holidays for'.Mortgage May 2012 - £129k
January 2015 - Mortgage down to £114k
Target for 2015 to get down to £105k0 -

Does everyone on here have a will yet?
Thanks for reminding me. I do my best to forget about it or put it off.
As I'm the youngest sibling & have no children I really should do something about it. Assuming I outlive the rest of the family the government currently stands to acquire my 'estate'. And I've no intention of letting that happen, especially not over my dead body!
It does amuse me to see the reaction from salesmen trying to flog me life assurance though. When they ask who's going to pay for everything if I pass away. 'I don't give a !!!! I'll be dead' isn't the reply there expecting.0 -
when I got my job sitting on a till in sainsburys I had the option of joining the union.... the only temptation was the free will service which I did sorted(saved me about 150 quid) very MSE;)mortgage free 3/10/12:)0

Will-less too, think about it now & then but never quite get around to it, will have a look at the info on that link tho', thanks beachie. I'm in the fortunate position that I have a 4 x salary life benefit from work, which luckily covers the amount of my mortgage should the worst happen ... but really must try to decide who to leave it too!
