@Bodmil
I could but he was a 'friend' so I didnt feel so bad. I think I'd need to finish decorating if I were to find someone knew and that takes money and time and both I seem to not have much of at the moment.
Once I've done the majority of the work I'll get rid of him. And my plan is after a year to put it up anyway in line with the bills and the three showers a day....[STRIKE]£2200[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£1950[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1850[/STRIKE] £1600 on my credit card

Oww that's rubbish I'm sorry. I'm also concerned about having a friend to lodge and it being more awkward than a stranger when money gets involved! He may be totally unaware of the pressure he is putting you under. I hope you get it sorted, it should be an added bonus with a lodger in your home not make things harder.0 -
Ha ha ha ha. The number of people that have suggested that I ask him to leave.... His room stinks.I cant figure out what it is. there is a massive long list of reasons to ask him to go but I never do. I need to do the flat up and then I can get some proper rent coming in.
Ahhh well. It could be worse. I could be single, have no money and a stinky house mate.... oh wait!
I kid. Like someone said earlier I know I am lucky. As much as its tough when I get MF it will have been because of me and only me.[STRIKE]£2200[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£1950[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1850[/STRIKE] £1600 on my credit card

This thread is great! I am single no kids seven years into mortgage. I have started overpaying in the last year - bit late to the party - and sm now up to £350 pm.
I find it hard to get the balance right between saving, overpaying and enjoying the money now!!
I earn a good salary but with no one to share the house cost with my lifestyle is considerably below that of my colleagues.
Oh well - that's life!0 -
Well you're in a good place to get things done cheaply, I'm sure there are things you can do yourself, have a look at the old style and DIY boards maybe? I can't wait to get stuck into doing up my flat, I'm sure that will fade once I actually start!0

I thought I was the only one! I am confident and quite able to make decisions in all aspects of my life but when it comes to my home I find it so difficult.
You don't know how long it took me to decide on electricity provider....I swear I could have actually powered my flat with the amount of energy it took for me to think through all the possibilities :rotfl: If only I could harness the power of thought as an energy supply.....how green would that be!0 -

I am will less. I have a few pages I wrote whilst I was procrastinating from the house work about what I want done with my stuff. More like an expression of wish (I think thats what its called)
They're usually about £100 all in. But I just always find more things to spend the money on. Like petrol. or gas and electric!
I know what you mean about dithering. I cant decide between sky and bt and bt are now charging me a fortune cos I cant decide!
We should have a thread 'what should I do' and the first person to reply to your question you have to do what they say![STRIKE]£2200[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£1950[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1850[/STRIKE] £1600 on my credit card

Have you read The Dice Man by George Cockcroft? I might try making decisions based on the roll of the dice at this rate. Would sure make it quicker and less stressful!0

Haha, I got an earful from Plus Net when I tried to move the service from my old house then found out there was a charge so I said I'd like to spend a few days deciding and get back to them confirming my wishes. The operating was very rude about it and thankfully I did have someone cheaper so I could tell them where to shove it!0
