I have a tiny ACER Aspire One netbook with LINUX and Firefox and use a dongle and prepaid SIMs on Three network. The interface is called Mobile Partner.

Linpus Lite(ACER Aspire ZG5) has support for 3G modems.

But the OP has a 'Netbook' with Android 2.2. It is not a mainstream Netbook, so the OP would be better off contacting the distributor or just reading the manual.
They claim that it is 3G compatible, so she might be in luck. :)

I use a 'my3' dongle -you can buy according to the amount of data you need and it works pretty well. I used it for work when I moved into a new house, before our proper internet was installed.

Netbooks work perfectly well with a dongle- we have two at home and both work well with dongles, no problem. Ours are Samsung and Asus netbooks. They are not the fastest laptop devices, but work well enough to get by.

Sorry that someone has to become abusive to the OP just because they don't like netbooks. That was not her question! She has a netbook and likes it and wants to use it with a dongle- will it work? Yes, it will. Abuse is not necessary!

Unfortunately only one poster has actually understood the OP's question - all other posters have failed to understand that the OP did not do any research and has not bought a "real" netbook - she even called what she has bought a "7" laptop".

She then ignored the advice posted and purchased a T-Mobile USB dongle (no doubt because it was half price) when she does not need one! see here

The OP obviously has an obsession for buying what she thinks are "bargains" without understanding what they are or what she actually requires e.g. she would not have bought the USB dongle if she had bothered read the instruction manual for the Kyoto netbook, which uses Android for it's operating system and is basically a 3G compatible mobile with a bigger screen.

The technically inept really should ask for advice before making any purchases!

What gives you the right to decide what is a "real" netbook or not ? Some of us were just using it to describe a small screen mini laptop - there are many variants of these running on various operating systems - several manufacturers used a version of Android on their products others used Linux of whatever variant and then there were Windows XP and even Windows 7 varaints as well - why be abusive to the OP when she asked fo advice?? All these devices CAN connect to the internet, some may be moe troublesome than others, but it is generally possible and the OP has already said she can access her bank accounts on the device quite easily, so clearly a connection is possible.

The OP was subjected to horrendous abuse by a poster in the other thread she posted, who has commenced the same abuse on this thread - I see mods even deleted his offensive vitriole it was so bad. Why does she have to be subjected to abuse because she asks for advice? She is looking for advice, dosn't mean she needs to take it or be abused.

As for understanding her question - I certainly did, there is no such thing as a definitive "netbook", it is just a term used to describe a small laptop-type device which is used for mobile internet and compact computer tasks. A small 7" screen laptop type device certainly fits into the description of a "netbook" - these can run any flavour of OS, there is no requirement for them to run specific OSes to be called a netbook.

Nobody has said that it won't connect to the net but she has not connected to the net using her half price T-Mobile USB dongle has she?

I look forward to reading your post giving the OP step by step instructions explaining exactly how she should use this dongle with her Kyoto netbook!

    Over to you.

It seems that you just aren't getting it...

The OP doesn't have a problem getting on the Internet. She wanted to know if she could use a USB Modem with the 'Netbook'.
In my very first reply I told the OP that it would, so it would be best to return the item asap.
The OP failed to take note of the advice and grew frustrated. Labelling me cynical and just repeating the question.

Finally I pointed out that i had already given her a reply and if she needed a second opinion, she should post on the Techie Board.
You fail to point out that the OP has also had her abusive posts removed from both of these threads.
As aforementioned, I hope you will be here to talk the OP through connecting the USB Modem when it arrives.
I expect you will be conspicuous by your absence.

I actually think I would prefer you to be conspicuous by YOUR absence. It's not that I don't appreciate your help, but do you have to be quite so abrasive, and judgemental. i didn't ask whether you thought the Netbook was any good did I, your opinion on that wasn't required.
IMHO you need to be a little more considerate to peoples feelings. As for it NOT working as you said. IT DOES. so you were totally wrong.
My apologies for any hurtful comments. It was the afore mentioned user who made me so angry.

My partner needs to have access to the internet on a very limited basis as he does the banking books for a friend at his house.
I have purchased a 7" laptop, and was wondering if you can just get a free dongle, just like a sim card and top up just a couple of pounds when needed. Don't need a contract, and don't want to pay out a bulk amount.
    Any help please.

So for the benefit of all readers, can you please tell us if you have actually connected the internet using the T-Mobile USB 3G dongle that you told us that have purchased in your other thread here with the Kyoto "netbook"?

This after all is what your original post requested help on.
