Top up dongle.

My partner needs to have access to the internet on a very limited basis as he does the banking books for a friend at his house.
I have purchased a 7" laptop, and was wondering if you can just get a free dongle, just like a sim card and top up just a couple of pounds when needed. Don't need a contract, and don't want to pay out a bulk amount.
Any help please.

Send the 7" laptop back ASAP. It is useless rubbish. The Dongle won't work with it. He certainly won't have access to banking websites. If you bought it online, you can send it back within seven working days for a full refund.

Go to eBay and get youself a secondhand ACER Aspire ZG5 for £70 or so.

Sorry, but why is it rubbish, it is a notebook pc, how can you say it's rubbish, you don't even know what make it is?

The longer you wait, the lesser your chance of returning it under DSR. I hope, for your sake, that you bought it online.

Pack it up as nicely as you can and send it back for a refund.

Otherwise say goodbye to your cash and you'll will have to buy another machine anyway.

If you have trouble understanding me, re-post this on the Tech board and wait for identical reactions.

Well, as you know nothing about the machine, me or what I want to use it for I think you are being a bit cynical.
Sorry I am not being rude, but I have been using it for a while and it suits my requirements. I already have a normal laptop, so it was just to be used for occasional use by my husband who has to visit a client without any internet access that he does some accountancy work for.
The only time it will be used is about once every 4 weeks and for the price it was I am more than happy.

seems a bit of technology snob I think!

maybe questioning the practicality of the small screen.. Sometimes the smaller machines may be using a version of Linux rather than Windows.. so the question may be whether a dongle would be compatible with that system (or need tweaks to work right).. Also what software would be compatible.

What brand of laptop did you get?

May be convenient to use the regulat size laptop you have..

Also what mobile network is your husband on? some combinations would allow the phone to tether with the laptop and use that instead..

I didn't ask if the Netbook was worth the money, practicle or liked by the people on this site, I just asked if it would work with a dongle. Get an unlocked dongle (o2 used to be unlocked) and then get an ovivo sim for £5 and it is free within usage thereafter.

Looks like you need a dongle that can entitle you to the free access to the net.
And that IS the POINT.
Your laptop is not the point.
