Another slow pc

Thanks for your advice, seems to be going a bit better.

One more thing tho. When i download a song from itunes it takes about 15 minutes!! I'm sure it didnt take this long before. Should it be quicker?

That sounds more like your connection speed rather than a problem on your PC. Do a speed test here to see what you are actually getting.

Hi,

Right ive run the hijack thing and got rid of the advised items, deleted the kontiki thing from sky (though how it ever got there i don not know. I have never signed up for sky, although i did visit there website once)

Still its taking 15 minutes to download 1 song from itunes. What is wrong with my pc????

i did a speedtest.net thing. But not sure what the results mean, here's what they say.

download speed - 66 kb/s
upload speed - 190 kb/s

I'm on virgin broadband 2Meg.

Does this seem right?

It means your download speed is about 25 times slower than it should be on a 2 meg connection. :eek:

Try contacting Virgin.

I'm with Virgin Broadband (Plan 3) (1 meg) and I've just run a test at http://www.speedtest.net

Download: 978 kb/s
Upload: 203 kb/s

Right.

Got so fed up with countless calls to virgin, and ended up with no interenet connection when getting off phone to them, finally got them to send an engineer.

I've ended up re mastering my pc. tested it around my brothers all worked well and fast, speed test was1971 kb/s

Virgin put in new box. tested speed got 425 kb/s. So its faster but not fast enough.

What else can be wrong?????

I did a speedtest.

Download 1959 kbs
Upload 214 kbs

Does this sound ok? Don't really know much about it. Why is the upload so much smaller than the download?

yes that seems okay 1959 is close to 2Mbs ...

the upload is smaller as it is a ADSL Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line

The Asymmetric means that it is not even, which is not a problem for a home user as all the data should be coming to you, up on the 1959kbs download line.
