It would have been 01654 on the meter .???
001654 on the yellow tag...0 -
So between Sept and today the meter has changed 1130 units right ???0

If the installation reading has been lost, they often set it at zero and cause an overbill.
Do they have a record of the reading you state? How did you find out about it?
Look at your July 2012 reading in your post. There is a massive advance then but its obvious its a miskey.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

After Notbritishgas advice i found the sticker with the new and old readings on..
We have that BG recorded the last reading of the old meter on the date of install but instead of the new reading they set it to zero ...
Hope i am making sense ...0 -
Ok that is good news, with one reservation. After Notbritishgas advice i found the sticker with the new and old readings on..

I make it you have used 1122 metric units between Sep and July, about 10 months. That is 12566 kwh and very very approximately will cost £500, but of course you will already have paid some off either by DD or on the bill in April. For 10 months covering the winter period that is quite a reasonable amount.
Now for the reservation, I cannot understand how the meter reader took an actual reading of 204 in January when It started on 1654 the previous September.0 -

It had to be a misread or a typo?? if it was 02040 that makes sense with all the other figures and amounts ...
If they query it i have the info stuck to the meter which is dated ,
hopefully common sense will prevail ...lol0 -
This story gets stranger ..
New readings loaded last night at BG ,looked online and figures were wrong they missed a 0..
So call them tell them error they then put the new figure i gave them in the wrong box :< ...
Another call back another reset ...
Refresh on line and they for some reason went back to july 11 and the new bill was from july 11 to july 12 ...
minus the money we paid already they say we owe £343....
Now on the new bill it has readings from the old IMP meter and the new Metric meter and all the readings on the bill show IMP costs ..:<
I confused and not sure if its right or wrong rang back ..
Lady on the phone confused and not sure ...
Waiting for a call back ...0 -
Sounds like BG are doing their best to add to the confusion!
Get it clear in your own head first. Write down dates, readings and whether it was the imperial or metric meter. Work just in whole units, ignoring any red digits (on old meters) or digits to the right of the decimal point.
Note that imperial meters record hundreds of cubic feet and metric ones cubic metres. Only then do you want to convert to kWh. If they have billed you on a metric meter at an imperial rate, then the bill will be inflated almost by a factor of 3.
If you can highlight where the supposed readings or estimates produce nonsensical figures, that might help sort it out.
Also, if BG are messing up the details you see on-line, take screen prints of each screen, before they "fix" it so that if nothing else, you can show them how they have caused you grief.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
